WARNING!
Rotating parts!
Keep limbs away from moving parts of
the appliance.
CAUTION!
Recoil hazard!
The starter rope can jump back to the
engine faster than the rope can be re-
leased.
Read the operating manual on the appliance
before putting the engine into operation
Start the engine and allow it to run only out-
doors
Start the engine only in a horizontal position
Check the oil level
Tie back long hair and remove any jewellery
Do not wear loose or baggy clothes
Wear sturdy, non-slip footwear
Do not operate the engine inclined at an
angle or more than 15°
Keep the safety distance when starting
Switch off the engine and allow to cool down
before removing the tank cap
Do not change the basic setting of the engine
or over-rev
Do not tilt the machine so far to the side that
fuel runs out of the fuel tank cap
Wait until the engine has cooled down suffi-
ciently before touching the cylinder ribs and
protective housing
Switch off the engine and remove the
spark plug cap before checking, cleaning or
working on the machine or engine
Do not rotate the engine without a spark plug

Cold start
The engine must be started as described in the
operating manual on the appliance. Ensure that
all devices (if installed) for driving the machine or
switching off the engine are deactivated.
1. Move the throttle to position << CHOKE >>
2. Turn the ignition key as described in the ope-
rating manual on the appliance
3. After a few seconds, slowly move the throttle
from position << CHOKE >> to position <<
FAST >> or << SLOW >>
Hot start
1. Move the throttle to position << FAST >>
2. Turn the ignition key as described in the ope-
rating manual on the appliance
CAUTION!
Risk of burns!
Running engines generate heat. Engine
parts, in particular the exhaust, become
extremely hot.
Do not place your hands and feet close to any
rotating parts.
Keep flammable foreign matter away from the
exhaust and cylinder area
Allow the exhaust, cylinder and cooling ribs
to cool down before touching
Switching off the engine
1. Move the throttle to position "SLOW"
2. Allow the engine to run for min. 15-20 se-
conds at idle speed
3. Switch off the engine as described in the ope-
rating manual on the appliance
Switch off the engine after use
1. Move the throttle to position "SLOW"
2. Allow the engine to run for min. 15-20 se-
conds at idle speed
3. Switch off the engine as described in the ope-
rating manual on the appliance
4. When the engine has cooled down, remove
the spark plug cap and the ignition key
