3.2 Setting the number of bubbles
The required number of bubbles is dependent on various factors, such as the
stock of plants, water movement and lighting intensity. The appropriate CO
supply level thus requires to be determined individually for the specific aqua-
rium concerned.
Rule of thumb for the basic setting: Begin with approx. 1 bub-
ble per minute per 10 l of aquarium water, which means, for exam-
ple, 3 bubbles per minute for a 30 l aquarium.
Adjust the CO
supply to the desired CO
2
over several days. Please note: The more vigorously the surface of the
water is set in motion, the more CO
rium again.
• Slowly turn the setting knob on the pressure reducer towards " +
"(approx. 1 complete turn) until the first bubbles issue from the
Nano Flipper.
Space: The solenoid valve must be open for this purpose.
• The desired number of bubbles can be set by turning the setting
knob to " + " or " - ".
Please note: After adjusting the pressure reducer, there is al-
ways a delay before the number of bubbles is altered accordingly
(the hose acts as a pressure buffer). The number of bubbles should
thus be set in small steps, always waiting a couple of minutes until
the new setting has stabilised.
Note: If the setting knob is turned towards " – " in larger steps
of around 1 complete turn, the pressure reducer will release the
superfluous pressure through a small vent hole – audible as a
brief hiss. This venting serves to quickly stabilise the newly set
number of bubbles.
• Check the number of bubbles regularly in the first few days, cor-
recting as necessary. After this initial period it is generally sufficient
to check the number of bubbles once a week.

content with the

long-term test

4.1 Mode of functioning
The colouring of the special CO
content:
• Blue = not enough CO
2
• Green = CO
level ideal (approx. 20 mg/l)
2
• Yellow = too much CO
2
The CO
content in the aquarium can be read directly from the colour
2
matching scale in mg/l.

4.2 Installation procedure for the CO
• Attach suction clips carefully to test container.
• Shake the indicator down in the ampoule so that there is no indi-
2
cator in the neck of the ampoule. Open ampoule by twisting off the
k
sealing tab.
27
• Pour the entire contents of the ampoule into the test container,
using the enclosed pipette if necessary.
• Turn test container carefully and secure it at a clearly visible point
in the aquarium where a gentle flow of water prevails.
• Stick the "CO
" colour matching scale to the outside of the front
2
k
pane.
30
Please note: As the CO
2
tor, the colouring of the indicator always takes 1-2 hours to respond
to changes in the CO
content. You should therefore always increase
2
the supply of CO
only in small steps of a few bubbles per minute
2
spread over several days until the ideal CO
4.3 Use as a long-term pH test
Provided that there are no other substances in the water which will
have a substantial influence on the pH level (e.g. humic acids, ni-
trate, pH minus preparations), the CO
used to monitor the pH value in the aquarium.
For this purpose, you must:
• Measure the carbonate hardness (CH) of the aquarium water (tests
available from specialist retailers).
• Stick the appropriate "pH" colour matching scale to the outside of
k
the front pane.
31
The pH value of the aquarium water can now be read directly from
the colour scale.
Measure the carbonate hardness regularly and always use an ap-
propriate colour scale.
4.4 Replacing the special CO
In order to guarantee the quickest and most exact colour response at
all times, we recommend filling the test container with fresh special
CO
indicator every 4 to 6 weeks. The used indicator can be disposed
2
of by pouring it down the drain.
4.5 Cleaning the CO
long-term test container
2
2
Use warm water and a soft sponge. Do not use any detergents!
If aquarium water or tap water has entered into the test container:
Rinse out thoroughly with distilled water and allow to dry. Then fill
with fresh indicator.
4.6 Special information
• The special CO
indicator is harmless and does not contain any
2
chemical solvents. Prolonged skin contact and eye contact should
