General description

2.1 3-way ball valve

2.1.1 Applications
The 3-way ball valves (1", 1¼", 1½" or 2" with Rp connection ac-
cording to ISO 7/1) are suitable for:
 use as a flow temperature mixer in the heating circuit
 other mixed applications
2.1.2 General installation instructions
Note:
 Installation of the fitting in the pipework must be carried out
without mechanical stress.
 The fitting must not be used as a fixed point; it is supported
by the pipework.
 The fitting and the pipework must be free from dirt, welding
beads etc.

The installation of dirt traps (available as a special acces-

sory) is recommended in order to prevent water contamina-
tion caused by rust particles, welding beads etc.
 All ball valves must only be used in closed circuits. An ex-
cessive oxygen mixture in open circuits can destroy the ball
valves.
 To ensure that no disturbing flow noise can be heard in quiet
rooms, the pressure differential over the ball valve must not
exceed 50 % of the specified values.

ATTENTION!
Please note that the heat pump manager (HPM) has a maximum of two
mixer outputs.
Switching is carried out by an EMA DWK electromotive actuator,
which is activated by the heat pump manager.
 The pipework must be without pressure, the media must be
cooled down and the system must be emptied before the fit-
ting is removed.
 The connections of the 3-way ball valve are fitted with a Rp
internal thread. Screw threads are to be sealed using mate-
rials suitable for this purpose.
 The 3-way ball valve can be installed in different positions. If
the ball valve is activated by an actuator, upside down instal-
lation is not recommended (risk of condensate entry, drip-
ping water etc. along the valve spindle)!
The ball valves are not suitable for use in potentially explo-

sive atmospheres.
 The individual materials used are approved for use in con-
nection with domestic water. The ball valves as complete
units are not approved for domestic hot water.
 When glycol-water mixtures are used, it is recommended
that a maximum concentration of 50 % glycol should not be
exceeded.
