Before using for the fi rst time
Before making coff ee for the fi rst time, let the
appliance go through two or three fi ltration
cycles using the indicated maximum amount
of cold water, but without using ground coff ee.
Th is should also be done if the appliance has
not been used for an extended period of time,
and aft er descaling.
General information
A measuring scale on the water container
facilitates fi lling the container with the
correct amount of clean water. With a
dual-scale, the left scale is used for regular-
sized cups of approx.125ml, while the right
scale is used for smaller cups. Make sure
that the indicated maximum amount of
water is not exceeded.
If several consecutive brewing cycles are
required, let the appliance cool down for
approx. 5 minutes aft er each cycle.
Important note:
appliance with fresh water shortly aft er
a brewing cycle is completed, there is
a danger of scalding from hot water or
steam escaping through the water outlet.
Making coff ee
Filling with water:
Open the lid and fi ll the container with the
desired quantity of water.
Inserting the paper fi lter:
Open the swing-out fi lter and insert a size-4
paper fi lter into the fi lter holder, fi rst folding
down the perforated sides of the fi lter.
Filling with ground coff ee:
For each regular-sized cup (125ml), a measure
departments.
Th e
When
fi lling
the
of about 6 g (= 1½ - 2 teaspoons) of medium
or fi nely ground coff ee will be required. Close
the swing-out fi lter aft erwards, ensuring that
it locks into place.
Preparing the glass carafe:
Place the drip-through lid onto the carafe and
close it. Ensure that the two arrow marks on lid
and carafe are properly aligned before placing
the carafe into the appliance. If correctly
inserted, the lid will disable the drip-stop
mechanism in the fi lter holder during the
brewing cycle.
Starting the brewing cycle:
Insert the plug into a suitable wall outlet
and use the Start button to switch the coff ee
maker on. Th e fi ltration cycle starts and the
water passes through the fi lter. Th e LED
indicator lamp lights up.
Removing the glass carafe:
Wait until all the water has passed through
the fi lter before the carafe is removed from the
appliance. Once the brewing cycle is complete,
the appliance switches off automatically and
the LED indicator lamp goes out. To interrupt
the brewing cycle, disconnect the appliance
from the mains.
Switching off the coff ee maker:
Remove the plug from the wall outlet aft er
use.
Heat-retaining carafe
For technical reasons the screw-in lid does
not close hermetically. Th erefore always
hold the carafe in an upright position when
fi lled with coff ee.
Keeping the coff ee hot
carafe accumulates heat energy. Th erefore
the carafe should preferably be fi lled to
its maximum capacity. If it is only partly
fi lled, the temperature will not be held as
effi ciently. If you rinse out the carafe with
hot water before use, the coff ee will be kept
warm for a longer time.
During brewing, and also while pouring
the coff ee from the heat-retaining carafe,
the drip-through lid does not need to
be removed and should remain in place.
To pour the coff ee, turn the lid counter-
