A rotating string head can cause damage or injury, since it continues to rotate after

the motor has been stopped, or the throttle handle released. Always maintain
control over the machine until the string head has stopped entirely.
Always make sure string head is mounted correctly and securely before each use.

8. Operation

- Always cut tall grass from the top down. This way you avoid getting grass wrapped
around the drive shaft housing and trimmer head, which could lead to overheating
and damage. If grass or the like gets wrapped around drive shaft housing, STOP
engine, disconnect spark plug cap, and remove grass.
Trimmer
- The string is advanced by tapping the string housing lightly on the ground while the
motor is running at full speed.
- Hold trimmer at an angle toward the area which is to be mowed.
- Figure 5 shows the best cut. Always use trimmer from left to right.
- Use the string to cut, do not force the string housing into grass which has not been
cut. Wire and fencing wears the string a lot, and can even break it. Rocks, masonry
walls, curbs and wood can wear the string very fast. Go around trees and shrubs.
Bark and tree ornaments, wood siding and posts can easily be damaged by the
string.

9. Replacement of string

Remove bumperhead screw by turning it counter-clockwise. Remove spool and spring.
Measure and cut approximately 25 feet of string. Put one end through the hole in the
spool, and pull, until the two ends are the same length.
Wind string onto the spool in the direction of arrow. Take care not to get the string twisted.
When there is about 6" left, pull the string through the two string guides in spool housing.
Mount spring below spool. Replace spool, and push in toward spool housing. Pull hard on
string to avoid getting it locked in the string guides.
Replace bumperhead screw. Use 2 mm string.
