Th ermal safety cut-out
Th e preset thermal safety cut-out protects
the heating element from overheating should
the appliance be erroneously switched on
without any water, or if the heating element is
calcifi ed. Once the safety cut-out has switched
off the kettle, it must be allowed to cool down
suffi ciently, or must be descaled before it is
switched on again.
Temperature control
Th e temperature control is used to select
the desired water level. Once it is reached,
the kettle will automatically switch off . Th e
temperature is infi nitely adjustable. To bring
water to boiling point, the temperature
control should be set at its maximum.
N.B: Th e setting increases as the control
is turned clockwise, and decreases as the
control is turned anti-clockwise.
Before using for the fi rst time
To clean the kettle, boil and discard the fi rst
fi lling of water.
Boiling water
Never remove the water container from the
base (or replace it) while the appliance is
switched on.
–
Remove the water container from its base.
–
Open the lid and fi ll the container with
water to the desired level, observing the
Min. and Max. markings.
–
Before closing the lid and placing the
container back on its base, ensure that the
appliance has not yet been switched on.
–
Insert the plug into a suitable wall socket,
turn the temperature control to the desired
setting and press the On/Off switch. Th e
indicator light comes on.
–
Th e heating process begins. Once boiling

reached,
the
switches off and the indicator light goes
out.
–
To stop the boiling process earlier, simply
put the On/Off switch to its Off position.
–
To pour hot water, remove the container
appliance automatically
from its base.

To prevent hot steam from being emitted,
ensure that the lid remains closed while
pouring out the water.
–
Remove the plug from the wall outlet aft er
use (the red indicator light goes out).
–
Do not leave any residual water in the
container.
Power cord wind-up storage
Th e wind-up power cord storage under the
base facilitates limiting the length of the
power cord during use and makes it easy to
store the appliance.
Descaling
Depending on the water quality in your
area, lime deposits may build up on the
heating element. It is advisable to remove
any such deposits at regular intervals. Any
warranty claim will be null and void if the
kettle malfunctions because of insuffi cient
descaling. A mixture of 0.5 litres of water to
two tablespoons of vinegar essence is suitable.
–
Pour the descaler in.
–
Switch the appliance
solution reach boiling point.
–
Leave it to take eff ect for a short period.
–
To clean the container aft er descaling,
rinse thoroughly with clean water.
Do not pour descalers down enamel-
coated sinks.
General cleaning and care
