Electrical System for Towing Hitch
Installing the electrical kit
1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. If necessary, remove the following covers and panels:
Bumper
-
Luggage compartment bottom covering
-
Rear end plate covering
-
Covering of the left and right trunk side
-
3. Starting in the luggage trunk, lead the cable end through the cable leadthrough (Fig. 1/6) to
the outside to the socket holder plate (Fig. 1/7).
4. Insert the rubber grommet into the cable leadthrough (Fig. 1/6).
5. Fit the socket gasket and connect the cable harness to the socket housing in accordance with
the pin assignment plan and push the rubber grommet against the socket.
6. Screw the socket onto the holding plate (Fig. 1/7) using the supplied screws.
7. Secure the cable harness using the supplied cable ties.
Connecting the tail light
8. Lay the cable end marked "left" to the left-hand tail light (Fig. 1/5) and the cable end marked
"right" along the rear end plate to the right-hand tail light (Fig. 1/10).
9. Disconnect the connector and connect to the matching counterpart of the cable harness.
Connect the remaining connectors with each other. Make sure that the plugs lock firmly into
place.
Connecting the trailer control module
10. Plug the 12-pin plug into the trailer control module.
11. Fasten the trailer control module (Fig. 1/3) to the left-hand side of the luggage trunk using
some velcro tape. Make sure it is securely fastened!
12. Connect the brown wires with the eyelet to the vehicle's ground point (Fig. 1/2).
13. Only for 13-pin trailer socket:
Using the 3-pin connector (Fig. 1/8) for the constant plus extension kit, the function "constant
plus" can be retrofitted.
The constant plus extension kit is available from specialised dealers under the WESTFALIA
part no. 300 027 300 113.
