9.3

REPACKING THE FLUID SECTION

1. Remove inlet valve housing in accordance with the steps
in Chapter 9.2, Page 21.
2. It is not necessary to remove the outlet valve.
3. Remove the pail bracket bolts and washers (fig. 16, item
1). Remove the pail bracket (2). Loosen and remove the
two nuts and washers (3) from underneath the sprayer.
Remove the bolts (4) that secure the fluid section retainer
(5). This will un-clamp the entire fluid section (6).
4. Slide the fluid section (6) forward to remove it from the
gear housing.

5. Turn the upper housing (fig. 17, item 1) counterclockwise
to loosen it from the cylinder (2).
6. Slowly pull down the upper housing (1) just far enough to
expose the extension slider (3) and the connecting pin (4)
that connects the piston rod (5) to the extension slider (3).
7. Push the connecting pin (4) out of the extension slider and
piston rod and remove the piston rod (5)/upper housing
(1).
8. Place the fluid section cylinder upright in a vise by clamping
on the wrench flats (Fig. 17, Item 6).
Do not tighten vice excessively to prevent
crushing.
Attention
9. Using a wrench, remove the upper seal retainer (7).
10. Slide the piston rod (5) out through the bottom of the
upper housing (1).
11. Inspect the piston rod for wear and replace if necessary.
12. Remove the upper packing (8) and lower packing (9) from
the upper housing (1).

Do not damage inside of upper housing.
Attention
13. Clean the upper housing. Inspect the upper housing for
damage and replace if necessary.
14. Lubricate upper packing (8) and lower packing (9) with
machine grease.
15. Insert upper packing (Fig. 18) with O-ring (1) and protruding
lip (2) downward into the upper housing (6).

16. Insert the spacer (11) on top of the upper packing.
17. Thread the upper seal retainer (7) into the upper housing
and torque to 25-30 ft. lbs.
