1. Introduction
Dear Sir or Madam,
Thank you very much for purchasing one of our products. Before operating the data logger please read this manual carefully.
You will get useful information for understanding all functions.
2. Kindly note / Safety Instructions
• Check if the contents of the package are undamaged and complete.
• For cleaning the instrument please do not use an abrasive cleaner only a dry or moist piece of soft cloth. Do not allow
any liquid into the interior of the device.
• Please store the measuring instrument in a dry and clean place.
• Avoid any force like shocks or pressure to the instrument.
• No responsibility is taken for irregular or incomplete measuring values and their results, the liability for subsequent damages is excluded!
• Do not use the device in explosive areas. Danger of death!
• Do not use the device in an environment hotter than 85°C! The lithium battery may explode!
• Do not expose the unsit to microwave radiantion. The lithium battery may explode!
• Keep these devices and the batteries out of reach of children.
• Batteries contain harmful acids and may be hazardous if swallowed. If a battery is swallowed, this can lead to serious
internal burns and death within two hours. If you suspect a battery could have been swallowed or otherwise caught in the
body, seek medical help immediately.
• Batteries must not be thrown into a fire, short-circuited, taken apart or recharged. Risk of explosion!
• Low batteries should be changed as soon as possible to prevent damage caused by leaking. Never use a combination of
old and new batteries together, nor batteries of different types.
• Wear chemical-resistant protective gloves and safety glasses when handling leaking batteries.

4. Equipment and usage
The DEC91 uses electronic signals to locate the edges of studs, joists or live AC wires through drywall or other common building
materials. Range selected by activation button for 1/2 inch, 1 inch and 1½ inch. Once the edge of a metal or wooden beam has been
detected, the two stud detection LED of DEC91 illuminate and sounds an audible tone.
5. How to use device
5.1 Device description (see Fig. A page 2)

5.2 Device start-up

1. Range Selection: Place the tester against the surface to be scanned. Click and hold ON/OFF button once for ½" range, the ½" range
LED will illuminate. The detector will calibrate, followed by a beep and the working LED on. Click twice and hold for 1" range and click
3 times and hold for 1-1/2" range, the corresponding LED of range indicator will illuminate, and then the detector will calibrate, followed
by a beep and the working LED on.
2. 1 Hold the detector flat against the surface, marking firm contact. Press and hold the ON/OFF button, the corresponding
LED of range indicator illuminate and the detector begin calibrate. When the detector is calibrated, the working LED, stud
detection LED and live AC warning LED illuminate, the beeper beep once, then the stud detection LED and live AC warning
LED turn off. Keep holding the ON/OFF button during the whole measurement.
3. 2 Slide the detector slowly across the surface in a straight line. As it detects a stud edge, the two stud detection LED will
turn on and the beeper will beep. Use the handy pencil notch located at the top of the detector to mark the stud edge.
4. 3 4 Move the detector to the other side of the stud. Repeat the 2-3steps to mark the other edge of the stud. The midpoint
of the two marks indicates the stud center.
