2. Put the espresso filter in the holder.
3. F ill the espresso filter with the required amount of coffee (espresso grind). Use the measuring scoop
(9). The filter has markings on the inside indicating the quantities for two and four cups of coffee.
F irming the espresso grind with the measuring spoon/press will improve the flavour. Remove all coffee
from the edge of the filter and the filter holder.
4. P ress the filter holder upwards into the housing. Make sure that the filter holder's handle is in line with
the mark on the housing (1).
5. S ecure the filter holder by turning the handle to the right, until it blocks. The handle will then be directly
below the mark on the housing.

1. Put the plug into the wall socket.
2. P ut the glass jug under the filter holder, making sure that the arrow on the lid of the glass jug is
pointing in the direction of the appliance.
3. S witch on the appliance by turning the selection dial to the espresso position (see figure 4). The
indicator light (3) illuminates (the water is being heated, and the pressure is building up).
4. A fter a few minutes the water will reach the required temperature, and will then be forced through the
coffee into the jug.
5. Wait until all the water has been collected in the jug. Set the selection dial to the 'OFF' position.
6. Remove the filter holder from the appliance.
7. E mpty the espresso filter.
8. I f so required, you can now prepare additional espresso using the above procedure.
C ertain parts of the appliance can become hot, in particular the metal filter holder and the steam
nozzle (12). Do not touch them, as you may burn yourself.
operAtion - using the steam nozzle
Once the espresso has been brewed the appliance is still under steam pressure. You can use this steam to
froth milk for a delicious cup of cappuccino.
The traditional recipe for cappuccino is 1/3 espresso, 1/3 heated milk, and 1/3 milk froth. If you so wish,
you can also add cinnamon, sugar, cocoa, or a liqueur.
Make sure you pour additional water into the reservoir when you wish to prepare cappuccino. For example:
fill to mark 3: sufficient for 2 cups of espresso and steam to froth the milk.
C ertain parts of the appliance can become hot, in particular the metal filter holder and the steam
nozzle. Do not touch them, as you may burn yourself.
1. L ift a cup of milk under the steam nozzle (12). For optimum frothing the removable frother must be
fitted to the steam nozzle.
2. O nce the level of the espresso coffee has risen to the 'steam' mark on the glass jug then turn the
selection dial anticlockwise to the 'steam' position indicated on the housing (see figure 4).
3. Once the milk is sufficiently frothed turn the selection dial back to the 'coffee' position.
4. P our the frothed milk into the espresso and add the other ingredients, as required, to prepare a
delicious cup of cappuccino.
