• This appliance may not be operated on an external timer or
a separate remote control system (e.g. a remote-controlled
mains socket).
• Pull the mains plug out of the socket to disconnect your ap-
pliance from the power supply and isolate it entirely from
voltage sources.

2.5. Handling the appliance safely

• Never leave the appliance unattended during operation.
• Never use the appliance if it has been damaged or if the
mains cable or plug shows signs of damage.
• Do not move the appliance while it is in use.
WARNING!
Risk of scalding!
The touchable surfaces of the appliance will become
very hot during operation.
Only touch the appliance on the handle or the tem-
perature control during operation!
Use oven gloves for this reason.
• Only add enough batter to the appliance so that the edge of
the cooking surface is still free of batter. The batter could oth-
erwise leak out of the appliance.
• Steam is released during cooking. Do not reach into the
steam; there is a risk of scalding!
• Never immerse the appliance in water or other liquids.
• Do not use the appliance outside.
• Allow the appliance to cool down completely before cleaning.
Do not use any metal objects to clean the cooking surfaces
but rather a slightly damp, soft cloth. Observe the instructions
in section "8. Cleaning" on page 36.
