GENERAL MAINTENANCE RULES
1. Proper maintenance of the saw and related equipment requires timely adhering to all the guidelines given in this chapter. Proper
maintenance is required to maintain the system in good condition and free of defects.
2. Review and follow all the safety rules given on Page.5 before attempting any maintenance.
3. Before starting any maintenance always wear appropriate personal safety equipment.
4. Repairs must be made only by trained personnel. A trained person is one who has read and thoroughly understands this
instruction manual and related equipment manuals and, through training and experience, has shown knowledge regarding the safe
operational procedures.
5. Disconnect the cooling water and power supplies before starting.
6. Hydraulic fl uid can become contaminated after extended periods of use which can cause restrictions in the system. Check to
see that the fl uid is clean and change at recommended intervals to extend saw's life. Refer to the respective manual for
maintenance information on the hydraulic power source.
DAILY INSPECTION AND MAINTENANCE
1. Inspect the blade mounted on the saw. Remove and destroy blade if any cracks, chips, gouges, or loose or missing segments are
present. Failure to do this can cause personal injury.
2. Inspect the hydraulic system hoses and fi ttings as described on Page. 7. Failure to do this can cause personal injury. Never try to
repair a damaged hose. Replace it immediately.
3. Wipe all tool surfaces clean of dirt and foreign material.
BLADE REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
Blade Removal
1. Loosen the two blade guard knobs.
2. Loosen and remove the arbor nut using the provided arbor wrench. The arbor nut has left hand threads. Turn the arbor nut
clockwise to loosen and remove.
3. Remove the fl ange and blade from the arbor shaft.
Blade Installation
1. Inspect the arbor fl ange for gouges, warps, nicks, hairline cracks, wear, dirt, or sprung condition. Replace the arbor fl ange
immediately if any of these conditions are present (See below for Arbor Shaft removal & installation procedure)
2. Any blade to be installed must comply with all the safety information and specifi cations listed on Page 5.
3. Abrasive blades must have mounting blotters on both sides and be speed tested per ANSI B7.1 Safety Code specifi cations.
DESTROY THE BLADE IF IT DOES NOT MEET ANSI B7.1 SPECIFICATIONS. Make sure the blotters are in good condition
between the blade and fl anges. The cushion provided by the blotters protects the blade from uneven strain.
4. Remove drive pin from arbor fl ange when using an abrasive blade. Install the blade on the arbor shaft. Make sure a blade is
installed correctly to the rotation of the saw. Saw rotation is clockwise as viewed from the blade side of the saw.
5. Inspect the fl ange for gouges, warps, nicks, hairline cracks, wear, dirt, or sprung condition. Replace the fl ange immediately if any
of these conditions are present. Install the fl ange on the arbor shaft.
6. For blades that require a drive pin, insure the cap screw is installed in the fl ange that prevents blade slippage between the two
fl anges.
7. Thread the arbor nut counter-clockwise on the arbor shaft. Tighten using the provided arbor wrench. Be sure the fl anges are
tightened securely, but not excessively. Excessive tightening will spring the fl anges and change the pressure area.
8. Tighten the two blade guard knobs to secure the blade guard. NEVER operate the saw without the guard in place.
ARBOR FLANGE REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
Do not strike the Arbor Flange with a hammer or other similar tool when pulling it off or installing it on the
WARNING
Motor shaft. The Arbor Flange or Motor could be damaged.
Arbor Flange Removal
1. Remove the blade from the arbor shaft as described above.
2. Loosen the set screw that secures the arbor fl ange to the motor shaft.
3. Insure bolt on arbor removal tool is threaded out to its outer-most position. Thread arbor removal tool counterclockwise onto arbor
shaft. Screw arbor removal tool bolt clockwise to pull arbor fl ange off motor shaft.
Arbor Flange Installation
1. Insure the arbor fl ange fi ts snugly on the motor shaft. Then remove the arbor fl ange from the motor shaft.
2. Apply Loctite RC609 or equivalent on the motor shaft. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for curing. Install the arbor fl ange on
the motor shaft.
3. Tighten the set screw in the arbor fl ange securely.
4. Re-install the blade on the arbor shaft as described on above.
