General Information

Control valves are suited to regulate fluids, gaseous mediums and steam. The decision witch valve should be used depends on
the operating data and requirements of the control valve.
The valve differentiates through the type, nominal bore, nominal pressure and the material of body and gaskets and the shape of
flanges. For different control purposes, several different types of cones and inner designs are used.
attention!:
control valves shall only be used for the appropriate design- and operation data
The body material and nominal pressure of the valve is written on the valve body. These data have to fit the operation data and
have to be suitable for the medium.
Every valve has an unique serial number, which is written on the name plate of the valve in the box "W. Nr.". For ordering spare
parts, always give the serial number of the valve. (see Appendix Figure 1)
Several tests (pressure testing, leakage testing,...) are done in the work shop for every valve. Also the set up of the valve is done
in the work shop, therefore a calibration or set up of the valve is not necessary.
caution!:
Before beginning to install or operate valve please read "hazard warings...". 0000-7004
Only trained and qualified specialist staff may install and commission valves.

Installation and connection

Fitting instructions

Before installing valve following items should be read:
installation space:
The installation point should allow sufficient space to ensure correct maintenance and enough space to open the cover of
the actuator.
before installation:
the guard caps should be removed from the flanges.
cleaning of pipes:
The piping should be rinsed to clear out any pollution, welding beads, rust etc. before inserting the control valve. This
prevents inner leakage of the valve. A strainer should be fitted in front of the control valve to catch remaining particles.
flow direction:
For two-way valves the arrow an the valve body shows flow direction through valve.
For mixing valves outlet is shown with "AB" written on the valve body.
For diverting valves, outlet is shown with "AB" written on the valve body.
installation position:
Actuator pointing up vertically or horizontally is suitable. If valve is vertically installed, the pillars should be over each other
to hold the weight of actuator.
tension on valve body:
Precautions to prevent any stress and tension at valve have to be taken.
piping arrangement:
For correct operation of valve the inlet distance to the valve should be > 5x DN, straight, linear and undisturbed. After valve
outlet the outlet distance should be > 10x DN straight, linear and undisturbed.
protection against heat:
To protect actuator against heat the piping and valve body should be insulated. This has to happen before start up.
