Panel installation
The panel should be fitted in a bulkhead. Make a hole of the
correct size in the bulkhead. Fit the engine panel with the 4
screws supplied. Use the drill pattern supplied. Ensure that the
gasket is fitted in the right way between the engine panel and
bulkhead.
Connections
Important!
An interface cable is ALWAYS required to connect panel
MP00.
Engine panel MP00
Connect the panel to the interface cable (article code: BEDR004)
using the plug and socket connection.
Then connect the universal engine wiring (article code: BEDR02)
with the engine's electrical components. Consult the diagram
on page 14.
Finally, connect the interface cable with the universal engine
wiring using the plug and socket connector.
IMPORTANT! When the engine is connected to a single MP00
panel, then a single interface cable (article code: STM137) can
be used, with a direct connection to the engine.
Other engine panels
With wiring loom and multi-plug:
Connect the universal engine wiring (article code: BEDR02) to
the engine's electrical components. Consult the relevant dia-
gram on page 14 or 15.
Then connect the engine panel to the engine wiring using the
plug and socket connector.
Without wiring loom and multi-plug:
Connect the starter lock and the circuit board to the engine's
electrical components. Consult the relevant diagram on page
14 or 15.
Connect the instruments and their lamps as shown in the dia-
gram in the manual concerned.
Instrument lighting
Engine panels with one or more gauges have a connector in the
+ wire of the gauge lighting, see drawing.
If required, a switch or a (direct current) dimmer can be fitted
in this connection, so that you can adjust the lighting as you
require.
Universal engine panels
Multiple engine panels
Two engine panels can be connected to one engine by using a
T-piece. These panels can be of the same, or different types.
In order to know which T-piece is required, you have to find out
the way in which the engine is started: This is either 'Energize
To Stop' (ETS) or 'Energize To Run' (ETR).
For the first type (ETS), use the T-piece with article code
BEDR04.
For the second type (ETR) use the T-piece with article code
STM9189. This T-piece has a connector for a relay. A relay must
be connected to this.
12 Volt relay: article code STM9050
24 Volt relay: article code STM8295
When this relay is activated by turning the key in one of the
panels to the 'Stop' or 'P' position, it is always possible to switch
off the engine, irrespective of the position of the key in the other
panel.
Connect the panels as shown on page 17.
When two engine panels are connected to one engine, and
both panels have gauges which are connected to a sensor
(temperature gauge and oil-pressure gauge) or a float (fuel
gauge), then these gauges cannot be connected straight to
the same sensor or float. An interface is required. This is also
required when you want to replace a switch by a sensor and a
warning lamp and/or buzzer.
Consult the relevant gauge manual.
Combinations with other Panels
As the VETUS engine panels have the same design and dimen-
sions as other VETUS instruments, they can be combined
together. See the back for an example of possible combina-
tions.
Extension cables
If the wiring supplied is not long enough, an extra cable can be
purchased. The extension cable is fitted with a plug and socket.
Do not install the cable too close to a source of heat, such as
the engine block, and the various parts of the exhaust system.
Avoid tearing the cable and use a cable guide if required.
