Mounting the cHSpcaBLe
Attaching to Other Modules (CHSPT2MICRO/CHSPT2MAX/
CHSPT2ULTRA, CHSPTELE/CHSPCABLE)
The CHSPCABLE is designed to be attached to other CHSP modules
for indoor installations including the CHSPTELE, CHSPT2MICRO,
CHSPT2MAX, and CHSPT2ULTRA using the quick-connect feature.
Figure 4 shows how to connect with other modules by sliding it
through the two slots.
Stand-Alone Mounting
Alternatively, the device can be separately mounted on any
convenient indoor surface. To install you need:
Two self-tapping screws — #8 x 3/4-inch (1.9 cm) (surface mount

only — supplied with purchase).
Slot and Phillips screwdriver.

Additional grounding and telephone wire may be required.
•
Locate where the incoming service of coaxial cable (TV, Antenna or
Satellite TV) enters your home. Mount the CHSPCABLE at this loca-
tion using the flanges and the two screws provided. (See Figure 1.)
Wiring the CHSPCABLE (Figures 1 – 8)
Note: If modules are joined to CHSPT2MICRO/CHSPT2MAX/
CHSPT2ULTRA AC module, auxiliary grounding is unnecessary,
proceed to Step 4.
1. Attach the auxiliary ground terminal strip provided to the rear of
the unit by removing the central Phillips screw as shown in Figure
3. Note: When joining CHSP modules together, only one mod-
ule is required to be connected to ground via an auxiliary ground
terminal, as the rest are automatically grounded when joined via
the spring terminals. The auxiliary ground terminal strip should be
attached to the "end" module closest to the grounding point.
2. Attach ground wire to the ground terminal and secure with screw.
Ground wiring should be as short as possible — less than 12
inches (30 cm) for best performance.
3. Connect the other end of ground wire to the loadcenter/breaker
panel ground (a longer ground wire than provided may be
required). If a loadcenter connection is not possible, attach the
ground wire to the nearest grounding point used to ground the ac
power lines. (See Figure 5.)
4. Reroute the coaxial cable(s) entering the home directly to the
CHSPCABLE. The CHSPCABLE protects up to two separate
incoming coaxial cable feeds. Connect each incoming coaxial
cable to a terminal marked IN. (See Figure 6.)
5. Connect each coaxial cable leading to the equipment to be
protected to a terminal marked OUT. (See Figure 6.) Verify cable
is connected to the OUT connector of the matching IN connector
to avoid crossing of signals. The matching IN and OUT terminals
are located next to each other on the same side of the device.

6. If several coaxial cable outlets are fed from a single coax feed
via a cable splitter, route the cable from the CHSPCABLE OUT
terminal to the IN terminal of the cable splitter. Note: Either
coaxial module is suitable for use with satellite or cable television
applications.
7. Ensure all connections are tight, turn on the protected equipment
and check for correct functioning.
Operations/Troubleshooting
The CHSPCABLE requires no maintenance. If your TV/VCR does not
have a clear picture, check the CHSPCABLE unit. If there is visible
damage, or if removing the CHSPCABLE from the circuit results in
a clear picture, replace the surge unit.

Le module CHSPCABLE est prévu pour être fixé aux autres modules
CHSP intérieurs, tels que les modules CHSPTELE, CHSPT2MICRO,
CHSPT2MAX et CHSPT2ULTRA, à l'aide du dispositif de branche-
ment rapide. La figure 4 montre comment connecter le module en le
glissant dans les deux fentes du module voisin.
Installation séparée
Le module peut aussi être installé séparément sur n'importe quelle
surface intérieure. Matériel nécessaire:
Deux vis auto-taraudantes — n° 8 x 1,9 cm (montage de surface

Tournevis à tête cruciforme et à tête plate

Un câble téléphonique et un fil de mise à la terre supplémentaires
•
peuvent être nécessaires
Localisez le point de raccordement avec l'extérieur du câble coaxial
(télévision, antenne ou télévision par satellite). Montez le module
CHSPCABLE à cet endroit, à l'aide des brides et des deux vis
fournies (voir la Figure 1)

Remarque: si le module est raccordé à un module CA
CHSPT2MICRO/CHSPT2MAX/CHSPT2ULTRA, une mise à la terre
auxiliaire n'est pas nécessaire et vous pouvez passer directement à
l'Étape 4.
1. Fixez la borne de mise à la terre auxiliaire fournie sur l'arrière de
l'unité en retirant la vis cruciforme centrale, comme illustré à la
Figure 3.
Remarque: lorsque vous assemblez deux modules CHSP, un seul
des deux modules doit être relié à la masse au moyen d'une
borne de mise à la terre auxiliaire : l'autre module est automa-
tiquement mis à la terre lorsqu'il est monté sur les bornes à res-
sort. La borne de mise à la terre auxiliaire doit être fixée au mod-
ule « d'extrémité » le plus proche du point de mise à la terre.
2. Installez le fil de mise à la terre sur la borne et fixez avec la vis.
Pour un fonctionnement optimal, le fil de mise à la terre doit être
aussi court que possible, et être de moins de 30 cm.
