First use

Clean the kettle and lid thoroughly before using
it for the first time. Boil about 5 litres of water for
about 10 minutes. Always unwind the mains cable
completely. Make sure that it does not come into
contact with the hot appliance during operation.
When using the new appliance for the first time, it
may give off a slight smell, this does not give any
cause for concern.

Cleaning and maintenance

• It is very important to clean the kettle after use.
The dry ingredients may stick to the metal.
• Do not use any sharp metal utensil to remove
any residue. Use a soft cloth or soft scouring pad
to clean the inside of the kettle.
(Tip: Vinegar can be helpful.)
• Do not splash any electronic parts of
the machine.
Canning tips
Not much has changed since grandmothers' time. The principle has remained the same: canning means
sterilisation or preserving products without chemical preservatives. The constant heat kills the bacteria
in the food. At the same time, the created pressure makes the bottle germ-free and air locked. However
the kettle isn't what it used to be. Automated preserving kettles give a great ease in use which
grandmother would have loved.
Preparation and neatness are a must while preserving foods. Fruit and vegetables have to be of a good
quality, fresh and ripe.
• Wash uncut fruit and vegetables and let them leak out.
• Green beans and peas are better preserved when they are blanched first.
• Clean the jars very carefully with hot water and detergent, then rinse with hot water, leave to dry on a
clean towel.
• Keep the lids in clean water until you use them.
• Do not use any porous, damaged or stretched rubber rings or rubber lids.
• Fill the recipient to 2 cm from the rim of the jar or follow the instructions of the glass manufacturer.
• Firmly close all the screws, clamps and clasps, close the jars right after the sterilisation time.
• Place the jars on the inlay grid. You can use different heights in jars.
• Place the jars 2/3 to 3/4 in the water. If you work with two layers of jars, the height has to be 2/3 to
3/4 of the top layer.
• When you place the jars in the kettle, they have to have approximately the same temperature as the
water.
• Place the lid on the kettle.
• You can find Information on the different ways of preserving fruit, vegetables or meat in a cookbook.
• The preserving time does not include the warming-up time.
• The preserving time begins when the chosen temperature is reached. From this point the timer sets
in.
• After the preserving period, take out the jars, leave the clamps and lids on the jars till they are
completely cooled down. Put the jars immediately in cold water.
• Home-made preserved food is best kept in a dry, cool and dark place.
