INSTRUCTIONS
S.A.D. is characterised by symptoms such as:
Depression, feelings of gloom and despondency for no
apparent reason
Lethargy, lack of energy
Anxiety, inability to cope
Social problems, irritability, not wanting to see people
Sleep problems, finding it hard to stay awake during the day,
and having disturbed nights
Loss of libido, not interested in sex or physical contact
Craving for carbohydrates and sweet foods, increased appetite
leading to weight gain
It generally occurs during the darker winter months of September
through to March or April. Health experts agree that the winter
blues respond - often dramatically - to bright light therapy. Some
people do use their lightboxes all year, but for the majority it is an
autumn/winter treatment. The important thing is, do not wait for
the Winter Blues to take hold, start using your lightbox before the
clocks change, say in late August or September and get into the
rhythm of light treatment.
PREPARING THE LIGHTBOX FOR USE
1 Place the lightbox on a firm surface, ideally white or light coloured.
2 Plug the cable into the back of the lightbox and into the wall socket.

3 Switch the lightbox on. The switches will illuminate. Figure 2/2a.
DIAMOND LIGHTBOX INSTRUCTION FOR FITTING BASE,
FLOOR STAND AND BRACKET
BASE
Parts included:
Base x 1
Pressure plate x1
Thumb screws x 2
Thumb screw retainers x 2
(these are white, and only secure
the parts together for transit)
1 Remove the lightbox and base from carton.
2 Place lightbox on its back on a table or firm surface.
3 Place one hand under assembly to hold the base and the
pressure plate together, then remove the small white thumb
screw retainers before step 4.
4 Offer up the base to the lightbox which fits neatly into the
depression in the base, and the holes that the screws need to
be inserted into will all line up.
5 The thumb screws just need to be tightened up as much as
possible to secure the lightbox to the base.
N.B. If the lightbox faces the front of the base as seen in Diagram 1,
then the angle of tilt forward will be 6° forward and 12° backwards.
Should you wish to, you can secure the lightbox to the stand the other
way round to increase the forward tilt to 12°, and the backward tilt to
6° depending on which angle is most convenient for you.
