Remote control connection
The amplifier is equipped for modern infrared remote control
With this feature, you can comfortably switch over all the pro-
gram sauces and control the volume, bass treble and balance
from your seat.
You merely need to acquire the Dual RC 154
infrared transmitter, which can be used over a clear, direct
distance of 15 m. Between the optical displays of the volume
and bass control, the amplifier has an infrared receiver which
also picks up the commands
for the other components,
for
example those of the 1500 RC collection and which passes on
the commands
to these components
via the remote control
plug-in connections on the rear. The Dual RE 120 external in-
frared receiver can also be connected here if the distance is
greater then 15 m or if there is no direct, unhindered distance
between the transmitter and receiver, For example, this may
be the case if the user wishes to remotely control his components
from another room
Use the rear switch IR CONTROL
to determine whether the
internal IR receiver (INT.) or the external (EXT.) receiver is to
be used.
Remote
control
operating
commands
are picked
up just as
logically and just as precisely as manual commands.
Refer to the instructions of the remote control accessories for
detailed instructions on how to use these facilities.
The amplifier can also be switched on and off via the timer
circuitry of the Dual CT 1540 RC tuner. When switching on,
the input tuner is automatically selected, ie, its starts radio
reproduction
with
the previously
selected
settings of the
volume and tone controls.
When
switching
off by means
of the TIMER
circuitry, the
complete stereo system is switched off
Operation
The highly
modern
switching
and operating concept of the
amplifier offers you a high degree of operating comfort and
great operating reliability, but there are also some operating
facilities which you will not be used to. Most of the functions
are electronic
and
the
number
of components
subject
to
natural wear and tear has been drastically reduced.
All the operating functions are optically indicated by means
of generously designed displays
POWER Switch
STAND BY Button
The mains switch POWER should always be switched on if you
wish the amplifier to be ready to accept remote control com-
mands. There is no need to constantly switch the mains switch
on and off, neither from the point of view of safety nor for
reasons of electricity consumption, However, it is expedient to
switch off the amplifier
if you intend to be absent for some
time.
The main functions of the amplifier are switched off and
switched to STAND
BY mode with the STAND
BY switch.
With the switch in this position, only the memories
for the
volume and tone controls and for the filter are in function.
If you wish to operate the amplifier once again, simply press
the desired button of the INPUT SELECTION, or the remote
control.
However, if the POWER button was previously depressed or if
the mains supply was interrupted for any other reason, the am-
plifier automatically switches to LINEAR and to SPEAKER 1.
In both cases, the volume is automatically set to the initial
volume which can be preset.

INPUT SELECTION
SPEAKERS
VOLUME, LOUDNESS, MUTING
The volume is sensitively controlled with the buttons VOLU-
ME —/+. Control itself is electronic in 64 steps and, after every
4 steps, an additional illuminated indication optically indicates
that the volume is being increased.
At low volumes, the bass and treble are boosted with the
LOUDNESS button in order to do justice to the physiological
characteristics of the human ear.
VOLUME ADJUST - Setting the initial volume
So that you can immediately obtain a certain volume when
operating the amplifier via any button of the INPUT SELECTION,
you can preselect the desired initial volume with the rotary
control on the rear. This volume always sets in automatically if
@ program source is selected after STAND BY mode or after
the power has been off. When the VOLUME ADJUST is fully
turned to the left — viewed from the rear — no initial volume
is set
MUTING function on remote control
Using the MUTING
button of the infrared transmitter Dual
RC
154,
the volume
is considerably
reduced,
The original
volume remains stored and can be reset by touching the button
marked VOLUME +/— or any other button on the amplifier or
amplifier operating buttons on the remote control. Flashing of
the light signal indicates that the MUTING button has been
pressed
BASS, TREBLE, LINEAR Controls
With the buttons BASS —/+ and TREBLE —/+, the sound of
the amplifier can be adapted to the acoustic characteristics of
the room or to your personal taste. However, please remember
that in most cases, the linear position (green illuminated indi-
cator) is the most natural
BALANCE, MONO Controls
The volume ratio of the two channels can be altered with the
BALANCE +/- buttons. The ratio has been properly set if you
can locate the acoustic source exactly in the centre when you
press the MONO button. With this button, you connect monau-
ral program sources to both channels if they are not already
automatically connected together as in the case of the stereo
tuner and the turntable.
If both buttons are simultaneously
depressed, mid-position is automatically set.
Rumble filter LOW
Low frequency noise in the music is cut off by pressing the
LOW button.
However, such disturbances normally only occur
With old records. In some cases, acoustic feedback during
operation of the microphone can be suppressed with this filter.
