Tonguing and Grooving Matched boards or tongued and grooved boards can be cut with this planer the cutter supplied making a tongue. Insert the cutter in the plane and adjust as described previously. The stop in the cutter should be adjusted for the size or height of the tongue. Fence adjustment will determine the position of the tongue in the work.

Beading Cutters are . inserted plane with adjustments for depth of cut and distance from 'Work edge being made as previously described. The depth gauge is used to determine the depth of beading desired. Hints on the uses of the beading gauge are given above.

General Hints Always keep the plane vertical* with the fence pressed flat against the wood. * Always start the cut at the point furthest away from you and work your way backwards. * Never try to make heavy cuts; a light cut producing thin shavings gives the best results, * For rebating, always use a cutter slightly wider then the required rebate for best results.

Sharpening Plough cutters: The cutters are supplied ground correctly at an angle of 350 before leaving the factory; but should be sharpened before use. Sharpen on a good quality oilstone, keeping the bevel flat against the stone and moving it backwards and forwards along the whoie surface.

Grinding Grind on a wheel at 350. ideally with water (or coolant oil* with artificial stones) flowing over it continuously. Failing this, dip the cutter frequently in water to keep it cool — otherwise the temper of the steel wilt be drawn, making it soft and useless.
