1 Power LED
2 Button PWR to switch the insertion on and off
3 Button PLAY/PAUSE to switch from CD replay to
pause and vice versa;
for PA-1120RCD this button is also used to switch
from radio reception to CD replay
4 PA-1120CD:
button MUTE to mute the CD re-
play; if the button is pressed again,
the sound is switched on again
PA-1120RCD: button BAND to select the reception
band for radio reception and to
switch from CD replay to radio
reception

to go to the next title or to return to the pre-
vious title; if the button is kept pressed:

To start the automatic station finding, keep
the corresponding button pressed for two
seconds.

2 Safety Notes

This insertion corresponds to the directive for electro-
magnetic compatibility 89/336/EEC.
The insertion must be installed by skilled personnel
only.
The insertion is suitable for indoor use only. Protect
it against humidity and heat (admissible ambient
temperature range 0 – 40 °C).
Do not operate the unit and the installed insertion or
immediately disconnect the plug from the mains
socket
1. if there is visible damage to the insertion, the unit,
or the mains cable,
2. if a defect might have occurred after the unit was
dropped or suffered a similar accident,
3. if malfunctions occur.
In any case the insertion or the entire unit must be
repaired by skilled personnel.
For cleaning only use a dry, soft cloth, by no means
chemicals or water.
If the insertion is used for other purposes than orig-
inally intended, if it is not correctly installed or ope-
rated or not repaired in an expert way, no liability for
any damage will be accepted.
If the insertion is to be put out of operation defini-
tively, take it to a local recycling plant for disposal.

3 Applications

The insertion is suitable for installation in the following
MONACOR units and must be installed in these units
by skilled personnel only.
PA-1120
PA amplifier for 5 zones
PA-1200
PA amplifier for 3 zones
PA-1200EX basic unit for 2 insertions
PA-1204EX basic unit for 4 insertions
PA-1220
PA amplifier for 3 zones
PA-1240
PA amplifier for 5 zones
The CD player allows replay of audio CDs and CDs
which you have burnt yourself (audio CD-R). It is not
possible to replay rewriteable CDs (CD-RW).
4 Installation of the Insertion
1) Prior to installing the insertion, disconnect the
mains plug of the amplifier or the basic unit from the
mains socket.
2) Remove the housing cover from the amplifier or the
basic unit.
3) Unscrew the cover plate for the insertion compart-
ment on the front panel of the amplifier or the basic
unit. Install the insertion and fasten it with screws.
4) Connect the bare three-pole wire of the amplifier or
basic unit to the pin socket of position c (see fig. 3).
5) Two further audio outputs are available, if required
– also see block diagram on page 21:
the pin socket in position d with balanced mono
output (0 dB) and
the pin socket in position e with unbalanced stereo
output (0 dB)
For insertion PA-1120CD, the installation is completed.
Close the amplifier or the basic unit with the housing
cover.
For insertion PA-1120RCD, additionally perform the
following steps:
6) Remove the cover plate on the rear side of the
amplifier or basic unit. Install the supplied antenna
connection PCB there and fasten it with screws.
7) Connect the wire of the installed antenna connec-
tion PCB to the five-pole pin socket of position a.
8) Insertion PA-1120RCD is provided with a storage
battery to memorize the station tunings. This stor-
age battery has been deactived in the factory to
prevent a gradual discharge of the battery before
the unit is installed. To activate the storage battery,
set the jumper in position b from OFF to ON.
9) Close the amplifier or the basic unit with the hous-
ing cover, then connect the reception antennas to
