GENERAL SETUP & OPERATION, EXPLOSION-PROOF MODEL SVF-10EXP
1.)
Place fan in a clean air environment.
Note: Air quality of the confined space should be tested prior to ventilation. If air quality
of the confined space is unacceptable, consult a trained professional.
2.)
Inspect fan for damaged or worn parts. Inspect all ducting and couplings for air leaks prior
to fan operation.
3.)
Install conductive duct to inlet and/or exhaust flange(s) and tighten cinch strap. Keep bends
and kinks in ducting to a minimum to maximize air flow. The use of conductive ducting is
recommended when operating in potentially explosive environments. Air Systems'
conductive ducting is supplied with a 12" ground wire that must be attached to the
ground lug(s) on the fan and any accessories used in the ventilation system.
Note: The SVF series fans are supplied with two 10" to 8"
conductive polyethylene adapters. They can be used to attach 8" or
10" duct to the air discharge or inlet side of the blower. If the fan is
used as a single unit, greater discharge flow will be achieved by
removing the intake duct adapter. Multiple fans can be used in
series to achieve ventilation with long lengths of ducting. Do not use
more than 50ft. of duct on the inlet or discharge side of the fan as
severe air flow loss will result. If the blower is to be used in series, a
front and rear ground lug is supplied to connect the ground wire
from the conductive duct on both ends. This will assure a proper
ground and remove potential static electricity buildup.
4.)
The explosion-proof fan should be fitted with an approved explosion-proof plug to meet
Class I, Division I, Groups C and D, Class II, Division I, Groups E, F, and G
specifications of the electric motor.
WARNING! The electric plug should NOT be connected or disconnected in a hazardous
environment when the receptacle is energized.
Connect fan to power source. The on/off switch protrudes through the housing. To turn the
5.)
fan on, pull switch knob out. To turn off, push switch knob in. The unit is know
operational.
SHUTDOWN
Insure that all workers are removed from the confined space site.
Shut off blower and remove all ducting.
MAINTENANCE
Keep blower motor dry and free from contaminants and dust.
Check periodically to ensure moving parts are free from obstructions.
WARNING: Do not attempt to open or re-wire the sealed electric motor.
All explosion-proof approvals will be voided.
