a result of which the saw blade gets out of the
saw cut and the machine suddenly moves in
the direction of the user.
A kickback is caused by improper or incorrect use
of the saw. This can be prevented by observing
the following safety rules.
1. Firmly hold the saw with both hands and
place your arms in such a position to be able
to resist kickback forces. Always stand at the
side of the saw blade and never align the saw
blade with your body. In case of a kickback,
the saw can jump backwards, but if the right
measures will be taken, the user can control
the kickback forces.
2. If the saw blade gets stuck or if you interrupt
your work, switch off the saw en let the saw
blade in the material calmly come to a
standstill. Never remove the workpiece or pull
it backwards as long as the sawblade is
rotating, which will prevent a kickback. Try
and find why the blade gets stuck and solve
the problem.
3. When you want to restart the jammed
machine, centre the saw blade in the saw cut
and check if the teeth are stuck in the
workpiece. If the saw blade is still blocked,
remove the saw from the workpiece in order
to prevent a kickback when restarting the
machine.
4. Large boards must be supported to prevent
jamming and consequently prevent a kickback.
Large boards may sag because of their weight.
These boards must be supported on both
sides, both on the saw cut and on the edge.
5. Do not use dull or damaged saw blades. Saw
blades with dull or badly aligned teeth cause
bigger friction, jamming and kickback.
6. Set the cutting depth and cutting angle before
you start sawing. If the settings are changed
during sawing, the saw blade may jam and
cause a kickback.
7. Take extreme care with saw cuts in walls.
When sawing in objects, the saw blade can
get blocked and cause a kickback.
ELECTRICAL SAFETY
Always check that the power supply
corresponds to the voltage on the
rating plate.
PERSONAL SAFETY
Wear safety goggles.
Wear ear protection.
Wear a dusk mask.
Wear protective gloves.
