To test the function of the gas leak tester, you can use a common lighter filled with lighter gas
(do not use a lighter with benzene!).
Proceed as follows:
• Do not conduct the function test in a closed room but outside, e.g. on a balcony.
• Switch on the gas leak tester (see chapter "Switching on/off").
• Activate the lighter so that gas escapes but the gas is not ignited. A flame must not burn.
• Hold the gas leak tester in front of the gas opening of the lighter at a distance of about 1 cm.
The gas leak tester must now signal an alarm (LED "ALM. Hi" or "ALM. Low" is illuminated
and sound is audible).

• Move the sensor over the surface to be checked at a distance of about 1 cm (e.g. a gas hose,
a gasket, a valve or similar). Make sure that the sensor does not touch the surface.
• If the sensor detects a gas leak, the LED "ALM. Hi" or "ALM. Low" flashes depending on the
gas concentration; furthermore, a sound is emitted.

Apart from the occasional battery change, the product is maintenance-free for you. Maintenance
or repair work may be performed only by qualified personnel or a specialised repair shop. There
are no components inside of the product that need maintenance by you, this is why you should
never open it (apart from the approach to insert/replace the batteries, described in these
operating instructions).
To clean the outside of the product, a dry, soft and clean cloth is sufficient. However, do not
touch the sensor.
Dust can easily be removed using a clean, long-haired brush and a vacuum cleaner.
Do not use abrasive cleaning agents, cleaning alcohol or other chemical solutions, since these
could damage (discolour) the housing or even impair operation.

a) General
Electrical and electronic devices must not be discarded with domestic waste!
Please dispose of the product at the end of its service life according to the current
statutory requirements.
Remove any batteries inserted and dispose of them separately from the product.
b) Batteries and rechargeable batteries
As the end user, you are required by law (Battery Regulation) to return used batteries and
rechargeable batteries. Do not dispose of used batteries in the household waste!
Batteries/rechargeable batteries containing hazardous substances are labelled with
these symbols to indicate that the disposal of them in the household waste is forbid-
den.
You can return used (rechargeable) batteries free of charge at the official collection
points in your municipality, our stores, or where ever (rechargeable) batteries are
sold!
You thereby fulfil your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the environment.
