When you unpack your new XPression you should find the following parts:
- XPression (main unit)
- AC adapter + cable
- Remote unit + 9 pin sub-d remote cable
- Breakout adapter for the footswitches 3-6
- Printed manual & quickstart guide
- USB System Backup Drive
* The VGA Monitor output is only available on units that start with serial DSXP-011, 012, 013 – not with serial DSXP-015
Placement
- Place the device on a dry surface and make sure that the air vents are not covered.
Remote Control
-
First you need to hook up the remote control to the main unit by connecting the included 9 pin
sub-d cable to the corresponding connectors of XPression and the remote control unit.
Power Supply
- Connect the included power supply to the Power In jack of the XPression. Then connect the other end
of the power supply to the wall outlet and press the Power Switch on the right hand of the front panel
briefly. You can turn it off later by pressing and holding the same switch for 4 seconds.
(Note that the power switch of some older models is located on the rear of XPression.)
The power LED on the front side will light up and the display shows a start-up message.
- The XPression is now loading the software and the sound library. This will take a moment. When
loading has completed the display will show "READY" and change to the main display page showing
the current program name on the first line of the display. The next two lines will show pitchbend and the
breath level by default. This can be changed in the [Global] settings.
Audio Connections
- Connect the „Stereo Out 1" jack with two mono 1/4 inch T/S cables to your amplifier.
- Alternatively you could connect stereo headphones with a 1/8 inch phone connector to the front output.
- Turn the volume down all the way before connecting the XPression and then turn it back up slowly in
order to avoid damage to both your ears and your amplification system.
hint:
To test the audio connection you could move the joystick twice to the left and press it to listen to the sound demos.
Pressing once more will take you back to normal playing mode.
