5. Dante Network Connection

The rear panel of the processor includes two Dante network ports (Primary and
Secondary), which provide input and output channels of low-latency digital audio using
Dante audio networking technology. These ports can be configured for switched (default),
redundant, isolated, or filtered network connections using Dante Controller by Audinate.
The EX-1280 and EX-1280C support 64 input channels and 64 output channels.
The EX-440C and EX-12AEC support 16 input channels and 16 output channels.
You can use these same network ports to control and configure the processor while using
ControlSpace Designer software. Connect the proper Dante port to a computer either
directly or through an Ethernet switch. Ensure that the computer is on the same subnet as
the processor using one of the following three methods:
Set the computer to DHCP and connect a DHCP server to the network. Both the
processor and the computer will obtain an IP address from the DHCP server.
Set the computer to DHCP and without a DHCP server. Both the processor and the
computer will obtain an AutoIP-assigned IP address.
Set the computer to a static IP address and use the processor's front-panel display and
knob to assign the processor a static address on the same subnet.
For more information, see the help system for ControlSpace Designer.
The control and audio signals for each type of network connection are configured in the
following way for each port:

VoIP

Use a Cat 5 cable to connect the VoIP port (RJ-45) on the EX-440C or EX-1280C to a
compatible session-initiation-protocol (SIP) IP private branch exchange (PBX).
For information on configuring the VoIP connection, see the help system for ControlSpace
Designer.

Telephone

Use a RJ-11 cable to connect the Telephone Line port on the EX-440C or EX-1280C to an
analog telephone line.

Soft Codecs

Use a USB cable to connect the micro-B USB port on the EX-1280, EX-440C, or EX-1280C to
a computer. You can use soft codecs (with EX-440C or EX-1280C) or PC applications (with
EX-1280) with stereo input and output over this connection.
