EMERGENCY LED T8 BALLAST
BYPASS (TYPE B) LAMPS
Models: S11730, S11731
INSTALLATION AND SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
IMPORTANT: Read before installing fixture. Retain for future reference.
WARNING:
• DANGER: Risk of fire or electric shock. Before
installation, disconnect AC power at the circuit breaker.
This includes both switch power and BBU power (battery
backup unit), which should be on a separate circuit.
• Make all electrical and ground connections in
accordance with local codes or the National Electrical
Code. If you are not familiar with these codes and
requirements, consult a qualified electrician. The qualified
electrician should be familiar with the construction and
operation of this product and hazards involved. Failure to
do so may result in serious personal injury.
• Do not exceed 120-277V operating voltage.
• To prevent wiring damage or abrasion, do not expose
wiring to edges of sheet metal or other sharp objects.
• Do not make or alter any open holes in any enclosure of
wiring or electrical components.
• While the light is on, avoid direct eye exposure.
• Combustible material should be kept away from fixture.
• Do not use when the enclosure is damaged or broken.
• Do not alter, relocate or remove wiring, lamp holder
power supply or any other electrical component.
Emergency Wiring Diagram
INSTALLATION
1. Disconnect AC power prior to performing electrical work.
This includes both switch power and BBU power.
2. Remove existing fluorescent lamps and diffuser
(if applicable).
3. Disconnect luminaire supply wiring to branch circuit and
cut lamp holder leads. Cut as far away from each lamp
holder as possible to allow for longer lengths at the lamp
holders.
WARNING: Verify that the lamp holders are non-shunted
(see diagram). Note: Different Emergency LED tubes may
have different wiring methods.
4. Refer to Emergency Wiring Diagram: First, connect the
L, N wires to the lamp holders on the left as shown.
These lamp holders are connected to a wall switch and
the input end cap (marked L, N) of the lamp.
Next, connect the L, N wires to the lamp holder on the
right. These lamp holders are connected to the BBU end
cap (marked L1, N1) of the lamp.

• The battery in this device is not user serviceable. Do not
incinerate.
• Use only with non-shunted lamp holder. Installers
should not disconnect the existing wire from lampholder
terminals to make new connections at lampholder
terminals. Instead, installers should cut existing
lampholder leads away from the lampholder and make
new electrical connections to lampholder lead wires by
employing applicable connectors.
• Only use the control provided with or specified by
these instructions to control this lamp. This lamp will
not operate properly when connected to a standard
(incandescent) dimmer or dimming control. Only operate
with specific dimmer manufactured by Shanghai Infinex
Lighting, type ECV100W-XXX.
Non-Shunted
Then, place the Warning Label on the right side of the
lamp holder to ensure that it can be clearly observed.
5. Close the wiring compartment cover and make sure live
parts are not accessible. Place field-applied label in a
visible section inside the luminaire.
6. Slide the white battery switch of the lamp to ON as
shown, the lamp will light up by battery power.
Note: Initial position of the white battery switch is OFF.
7. Install the lamps and make sure the input endcaps
(marked L, N) are installed into the switched circuit left
side of the lamp holder, and the BBU endcap (marked
L1, N1) installed to the non-switched circuit right side of
lamp holder.
8. Install the diffuser (if applicable). Turn on the power and
flip the wall switch to ON. The green indicator light beside
the white battery switch will light up to indicate charging.
Shunted: DO NOT USE
WARNING: This lamp
holder is connected to the
BBU Mains, which is only off
during power outages and
cannot be controlled by the
wall switch.
