INSTALLATION AND SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
IMPORTANT: Read before installing fixture. Retain for future reference.
WARNING: Risk of Fire or Electric Shock
• This fixture is for new construction applications only. All work must
be done by a certified electrician.
• TURN OFF the electrical power at fuse or circuit breaker box before
wiring fixture to power supply.
• Risk of electric shock, do not use where directly exposed to water.
IC housings can be installed in direct contact with insulation. Non–IC
housings must be kept 3 inches from any insulation.
• Damp location rated.
• This recessed fixture is intended to be connected to a properly
installed and grounded UL listed junction box.
INSTALLATION
1. FASTENING FIXTURE TO CEILING
Joist-type ceiling-extend bar hangers to fit between joists.
Position fixture temporarily by hammering "Nail" into joists.
(Figure A), then secure permanently with nails. Hangers
should be level with bottom of joists.
Suspended (T-bar) ceilings-extend bar hangers 1inch past
T-bars, then rest fixture on T-bars. Secure fixture to T-bars
with wire (Figure B).

Junction box contains two wires. A
black (hot+) and a white (neutral-) which
must be spliced to the house current
feed wire. Make sure to splice white to
white and colored or black to black.
After splicing has been completed, tuck
splices carefully into junction box and
replace cover (Figure C).

Insulated Ceiling
The insulted ceiling or I.C. approved recessed
fixture is one that can be installed in direct
contact with insulation.
3. GROUNDING
For Romex or 3 wire BX flexible armour cable installations
attach supply ground lead (green) to bare copper ground
lead or ground screw in wiring box mounted on plaster
frame. Local electrical codes should be consulted to
determine acceptable installation-conduit Romex, or
flexible armour cable.
4. CUTTING A HOLE
Measure the inner diameter
of the can, then draw a circle
1/8 inch larger. Use a drywall
saw and carefully cut a hole to
install the fixture. (Figure D).
