The hard drive installed in the hard drive housing is operated without an
external power supply. It operates in what is known as bus-powered mode.
This means that the power supplied by the computer via USB (here: 900 mA) is
sufficient to power an external 6.35 cm/2.5" hard drive.
Tips and notes
USB 3.1 Gen 1
• To operate at USB 3.1 Gen 1 speed, your computer must support the USB 3.1 Gen 1
standard.
• If you want to connect the product via a USB hub, the USB hub has to support USB 3.1
Gen 1 for the maximum transfer rate (max. 5 Gbps) to be possible.
Driver installation
• The required drivers are already included in the operating system. For that reason the
delivery does not include any separate storage medium.
• Keep in mind that you will need a suitable USB 3.1 Gen 1 controller for using the
USB 3.1 Gen 1 function. Many motherboards integrate such controllers already, but the
controller can also be added by using an additional plug-in card.
Maintenance and cleaning
• Besides occasional cleaning, the device is maintenance-free.
• Before cleaning, disconnect the USB cable from the product. Wait for at least
30 seconds until all magnetic discs have come to a complete stop.
• Never submerge the product in water.
• Do not use any aggressive cleaning agents, rubbing alcohol or other chemical solutions.
Use a dry, soft and clean antistatic cloth to clean the product exterior. Do not apply too
much pressure to the housing to prevent scratching.
Disposal
Electronic devices are recyclable waste and must not be disposed of in the
household waste.
At the end of its service life, dispose of the product in accordance with
applicable regulatory guidelines.
You thus fulfill your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the
environment.
