2 Operation
2.1 Measuring DC voltages
1. Connect the red test cord to the VΩ socket and the black test cord to the
COM socket.
2. Place the Function/Range selector on the desired DC and V range. If the
magnitude of the voltage is unknown, place the selector on the highest
range and reduce until a satisfactory reading is obtained.
3. Switch off the device or the circuit to be measured and discharge all
capacitors.
4. Connect the test cords to the device or to the circuit to be measured.
5. Power on the device or the circuit to be tested. The value of the voltage
as well as its polarity appear on the digital display.
6. Power off the device or the circuit to be tested and discharge all
capacitors before disconnecting the test cords.
2.2 Measuring AC voltages
1. Connect the red test cord to the VΩ socket and the black test cord to the
COM socket.
2. Place the Function/Range selector switch on the desired AC and V
range. If the magnitude of the voltage is unknown, place the selector
switch on the highest range and reduce until a satisfactory reading is
obtained.
3. Power off the device or the circuit to be tested and discharge all
capacitors.
4. Connect the test cords to the device or to the circuit to be measured.
5. Power on the device or the circuit to be measured. The value of the
voltage appears on the digital display.
6. Power off the device or the circuit to be tested and discharge all
capacitors before disconnecting the test cords.
2.3 Measuring Direct Currents
1. Connect the red test cord to the mA input socket to measure currents of
up to 200 milliamperes or 10A if greater. 0 200 mA. Connect the black
test cord to the COM socket.
2. Place the Function/Range selector switch on the desired DC and A
range. If the magnitude of the current is unknown, place the selector
switch on the highest range and reduce until a satisfactory reading is
obtained.
3. Power off the device or the circuit to be tested and discharge all
capacitors.
