DESCRIPTION

CAREFULLY READ THE INSTRUCTIONS AND WARNINGS BEFORE STARTING TO OPERATE THE EQUIPMENT
The pump you have purchased can be used in a potentially explosive
atmosphere (ATEX). The European Directive 2014/34/EU sets out
essential health and safety requirements for the use of equipment and
protective systems in these atmospheres and leaves the technical
expression of the requirements contained therein to the harmonised
European standards. SAMOA Industrial S.A. has followed a procedure
by means of which it demonstrates the conformity of the product to
which this manual accompanies with these requirements. This process
has consisted of the preparation and subsequent deposit of the required
technical documentation in the notified body mentioned in the
declaration of conformity together with an internal control of production.
Equipment intended for use in this type of atmosphere must have
ATEX MARKING
On the pump that accompanies this manual you should locate a label
like the one shown in the figure below. This label includes the following
information (do not use the pump in an ATEX atmosphere if it does not
have such a label):
MODEL:
CODE:
MFG. DATE:
MAXIMUM AIR PRESSURE:
MAXIMUM FLUID PRESSURE:
FLUID IN / OUT:
0163
LOM 20.115M-CX
Ex: Indicates that it is possible to use this pump in a potentially
explosive atmosphere.
II: Indicates the device group corresponding to the pump. In this case,
belonging to group II indicates that this equipment can be used in a place
where there is a danger of ATEX formation. It is an equipment for industrial
application on the surface.
II: Indicates the category within the group corresponding to the equipment.
Equipment Category 2 indicates a High Protection Level (Use of equipment
in Zones 1 and 2 for Gas and Zones 21 and 22 for Dust).
Equipment Category 2 within Group II is equipment intended to operate
within the operating parameters set by the manufacturer and ensures a high
level of protection for its intended use in locations where explosive
atmospheres due to mixtures of air with gases, vapours, mists and where
air/dust mixtures are likely to occur. Explosion protection ensures an
adequate level of safety, even in the event of malfunctions or work under
hazardous conditions which normally have to be taken into account.
G: Type of atmosphere Gas. Indicates that the pump can be used in a
potentially explosive atmosphere due to Gas, vapour or mist.
D: Type of atmosphere Dust. Indicates that the pump can be used in a
potentially explosive atmosphere due to Dust.

specific marking which is an essential tool for the end user for the
correct location and use of the pump. The contents of the marking on
ATEX compliant UP (UP20/UP30) pumps are explained below.
Remember never to use a UP (UP20/UP30) pump that is not marked
with this label in a potentially explosive atmosphere, as the design of
the UP (UP20/UP30) pumps intended for ATEX use has been partially
modified for this purpose.
Please also remember that when pumping certain fluids, a broken
diaphragm would mean that the area where the pump is placed
becomes a potentially explosive atmosphere. Stop the pump immediately.
h: It indicates that the pump has construction safety protection because
it is a non-electrical piece of equipment. No additional protection
mode is applied.
IIB/IIC: Indicates the explosion group of gases that can form the explosive
atmosphere for which this pump is suitable (in these instructions, conditions
necessary for the use of the pump with each explosion group are noted). In
particular, these groups refer to Flammable Gases (Ethylene) and Highly
Flammable Gases (Hydrogen) respectively.
IIIB: Indicates the explosion group of dusts that can form the explosive
atmosphere for which the pump is suitable. In particular this group refers to
Non-Conductive Dust.
T6...T5 (Gas) / T70°C...T95°C (Polvo): It indicates the limitation
imposed by SAMOA Industrial for the use of the pump with the gases of
groups IIB and IIC as well as with the powders of group IIIB. The temperature
limitation imposed by SAMOA Industrial is 95°C. Since in normal conditions
the pump would never reach this temperature, it means the maximum
temperature of the fluid that can be pumped by the equipment without risk
of ignition of the indicated gases and dusts. In other cases, the maximum
surface temperature of any part of the equipment that could be exposed to
a potentially explosive atmosphere under the most adverse conditions could
be marked. In the case of atmospheres produced by a mixture of air (G) and
dust (D), please note that the maximum surface temperature of any part of
the equipment in a UP pump will depend on that of the pumped fluid as
long as it exceeds 30°C.
Gb: Equipment Protection Level 1 for Gas atmosphere (atmosphere present
occasionally with normal equipment use). Indicates that the equipment has
a high level of protection (protection level assigned to the equipment
according to its risk of becoming an ignition source), even though it may or
may not be an ignition source under normal operating conditions or during
foreseeable breakdowns.
Db: Equipment Protection Level 1 for Dust atmosphere (atmosphere
present occasionally with normal equipment use). Indicates that the
equipment has a high protection level (protection level assigned to the
equipment according to its risk of becoming an ignition source), even
though it may or may not be an ignition source under normal operating
conditions or during foreseeable breakdowns.
LOM YY.###: Indicates the reference number (name of the issuer of the
certificate and its reference) of the technical documentation that has been
deposited with the notified body (see declaration of conformity).
X: The letter "X" positioned after the certificate reference number indicates
special conditions of safe use which are conveyed by these operating
instructions to the end user.
