Przekaz sygnału następuje po ustawionej na transmiterze i odbiorniku radiowym częstotliwości. Transmiter zasilany jest 2 bateriami AAA.

Jeżeli radio posiada dwa odbiorniki, może się zdarzyć, że transmiter będzie odbierał sygnały radiofonii samochodowej (CB). Od 8 lutego 2006 w różnych krajach członkowskich UE dopuszczalne jest stosowanie systemów radiowych UKF.
