• Often an Ultra-HD TV and a video projector should be connected to the Matrix Switch. Then
use HDMI OUT A for the television. This is because the television usually supports more pic-
ture and sound formats than a projector, so it is the "better" device.
• STD: The HDMI source is signaled that the HDMI sinks support 4K 60Hz HDR and 5.1 sound.
If your output devices do not support such format you may experience no sound or no signal.
Notes:
When changing the EDID switch, please note that it may be necessary to restart the connected
devices. If you do not obtain the desired output, please proceed as follows:
• Switch on the desired EDID mode, usually COPY. Select the desired HDMI source and enable
output to HDMI OUT A.
• Disconnect all devices from the power supply for a few seconds, i.e. unplug the power cord.
• Then plug in the power plugs and turn on the devices in the following order: TV /video projec-
tor, Matrix Switch, HDMI source

Audio output

Audio and video belong together in HDMI and are processed separately only in the HDMI sink. If
an audio device shall deliver HDMI sound, it must therefore also support the video signal. This is
not always possible. The Matrix Switch can therefore extract the sound from the video signal and
output it separately.
a) Optical audio output
The optical digital output SPDIF supports stereo, Dolby Digital 5.1 (AC3) or DTS 5.1, allowing you
to operate a sound system with such an audio input regardless of the video format. The output is
possible in stereo as PCM or bitstream. 5.1 sound can only be output as bitstream and must be
decoded by the audio device. Multi-channel sound in PCM or more complex audio formats like
Dolby Atmos or DTS-X can generally only be transmitted via HDMI, not via SPDIF! The output of the
ARC (Audio Return Channel) from a television is also possible via SPDIF. This is where the sound
from the TV tuner or apps reaches the sound system. To do this, the ARC button must be switched
on.
b) Audio jack
You can connect headphones or a conventional HiFi system here. You may need an adapter from
3.5 mm jack to cinch / RCA sockets. Output via the jack socket is only possible if the HDMI source
delivers pure stereo sound. Multi-channel formats are not supported here. ARC television sound
cannot be output via the jack socket.
