16. IMAGE CALIBRATION

(ONLY FOR ATTACHMENT)

To ensure that the point of impact is consistently stored and your
Merlin-42 (2020) is used properly, the following has to be be obser-
ved:
> 1. Fix the weapon and aim at a target point at 50 m/100 m with
riflescope. The target should also be clearly visible in the thermal
image.
> 2. Set the riflescope to the lowest magnification and, if availab-
le, the parallax adjustment to infinity (∞).
> 3. Screw the clamping adapter onto the collimator lens and pull
the lock ring firmly against the clamping adapter. Make sure
that the clamping lever is on the side or on top.
> 4. Switch on the Merlin-42 (2020), place it up straight on the
optic and close the clamping lever. Check target point. If the
target point deviates, it needs to be matched with the reticle
using the image calibration function.
> 5. Press the M and C buttons simultaneously until the frame
advance menu opens. Press the M button to choose between
height (Y) and lateral adjustment (X). Press the Power and C
buttons (arrow symbols) to move the image in the desired di-
rection until the target you are aiming at is congruent with your
reticle. Pressing a button shifts the image by one pixel width, a
longer press shifts it by 10 pixel widths. You can read the values
directly from the coordinates.
> 6. The values are stored after pressing the M button for 3 se-
conds.
> 7. Remove the optical sight to check the target point via the
optical sight. Ideally check several times whether the target
point is congruent.
> 8. If consistent, take a test shot at 50 m.
> 9. If necessary, make corrections and fire a test shot again at
100 m.
> 10. If the hit image is correct, note the memory location (G1, G2,
G3 or G4) with the corresponding X/Y coordinates.
NOTE:
> Before using the Merlin-42 (2020) in attachment mode, make
sure that the rifle scope is mounted high enough. There should
always be a minimum distance of approx. 10 mm between
the lower edge of the clamping adapter and the barrel of the
rifle.
Otherwise, loads can occur during the shot, which can lead to
damage to the device, the scope, your mount and ultimately to
deposits.
• A rear sight (open sight) under the Merlin-42 (2020), can also
cause the problems mentioned above. The minimum distance
of 10 mm also needs to be observed here.
• Move the screen up (Power button), for example, moves the
point of impact up. Moving the screen to the left (Power but-
ton) moves the point of impact to the left.
