The Fairview
Two Stage regulator meets RVIA requirements for use on recreational vehicles.
Caution
This regulator should be installed and adjusted by a qualified LP Gas technician. Contact a qualified LP Gas contractor or dealer for installation.
The Fairview Automatic Changeover Two Stage Regulator combines a high pressure first stage and a low pressure second stage regulator into a single unit, with an auto-
matic changeover system designed to supply uninterrupted LP Gas on two cylinder installations. The unit is ideally suited for LP Gas systems for Recreational Vehicles
(RV's), small cottages and cabins.
Installation:
1.
The regulator must be installed in compliance with the Codes and Standards in place in the jurisdiction where the regulator is to be installed.
2.
Install regulator outdoors only.
3.
The regulator is intended for propane vapour service only. DO NOT CONNECT TO PROPANE LIQUID SYSTEMS.
4.
Use a regulator mounting bracket to attach the regulator firmly in place with the vent pointing downward or under a protective cover.
5.
To minimize the possibility of debris/insects blocking the vent keep the vent cover in place.
6.
Use an approved pipe dope or tape when making steel threaded connections.
7.
Use flexible QCC1 type hose connectors to connect the two regulator inlets to the two LP Gas cylinder service valves.
8.
Test connections for leaks using either a commercial leak detector solution or an electronic detector calibrated for propane.
Placing LP Gas cylinder in service:
1.
Prior to placing a LP Gas cylinder in service, turn all appliances to the "off" position and ensure there are no open LP Gas lines in the system.
2.
Place one of the two connected LP Gas cylinders into service by rotating the black changeover lever in the direction of the selected cylinder.
3.
The "service" arrow on the lever points towards the cylinder in service.
4.
Open both cylinder service valves slowly.
5.
The indicator on top of the regulator will turn from red to green.
Operation:
1.
The cylinder in service will continue to supply LP Gas until the pressure in the cylinder drops below a designated set point at which time the
reserve side of the regulator opens providing LP Gas from the reserve cylinder.
2.
The indicator on top of the regulator will turn from green to red indicating that the reserve cylinder is now supplying LP Gas to the system.
3.
Prior to disconnecting the empty cylinder, rotate the black changeover lever in the direction of the cylinder now in service.
4.
Close the cylinder service valve on the empty cylinder.
5.
Disconnect the empty cylinder by removing the QCC1 Type connection from the cylinder service valve.
6.
Remove the cylinder and install a filled cylinder by reconnecting the QCC1 Type connection to the new cylinder service valve.
7.
Slowly open the new cylinder service vale, check for leaks.
8.
The indicator on top of the regulator will turn from red to green.
When using a leak detector solution, rising bubbles indicate a leak. If the leak cannot be stopped by tightening the connection,
Never check for leaks with an open flame, do not check for leaks using ammoniated or chlorinated household type detergents,
GAS_FLO regulators have internal moving components that will over time become inoperative due to wear, corrosion and aging of rubber components. As
with all mechanical devices the environment and conditions under which the regulator is used will determine its safe service life. Periodic inspection and
maintenance by a qualified LP Gas technician is essential to avoid serious injury and property damage.
Regulator Inspection: Regulator's exhibiting any external damage should be replaced. The regulator can be inspection for internal corrosion by removing the vent cover
and using a strong flashlight to examine the interior surfaces. If signs of corrosion are observed the regulator should be replaced.
Proper application, installation and maintenance of this regulator are essential. Users should obtain further information if there are any
