IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
21. CHECK FOR DAMAGED PARTS. Before using this tool, any part that is damaged should be carefully checked to
determine that it will operate properly and perform its intended function. Check for alignment of moving parts, binding
of moving parts, breakage of parts, mountings, and other conditions that may affect its operation. Check sockets
and bits to make sure they are in good condition. Inspect screws and tighten any ones that are loose. Any part that
is damaged should be properly repaired or replaced by an authorized service centre unless otherwise indicated
elsewhere in the instruction manual. Have defective switches replaced by an authorized service centre. Don't use
the tool if switch does not turn on and off properly.
22. REPLACEMENT PARTS. When servicing, use only identical replacement parts.
PRECAUTIONS FOR BATTERY ANd CHARGER
1. CHARGE BATTERIES FULLY before initial use.
NOTE: The battery packs for this tool have been shipped and will reach you in a low-charge condition.
Charge the battery pack fully before the initial use.
2. CHARGE AT ROOM TEMPERATURE. Temperature must be higher than 0°C (32°F) and lower than 50°C (122°F).
3. DO NOT CHARGE IF CHARGER'S CORD OR PLUG IS DAMAGED. Charging with damaged cord may result in
fire or electrical shock. If charger is damaged in any way, have it repaired by qualified service personnel. Charge
batteries indoors as the charger is designed for indoor use only.
WARNING! Do not allow any liquid to come into contact with the charger.
There is a danger of electric shock.
4. DO NOT SHORT ACROSS TERMINALS OF BATTERY. Take care that metal such as paper clips, nails, the sides of
a metal toolbox do not cause a short in your battery. Extremely high temperatures and fire can result.
DANGER! If the battery pack is cracked or damaged in any other way, do not insert
it in the charger. There is a danger of electric shock or electrocution.
5. RECHARGE BATTERIES ONLY WITH THE SUPPLIED CHARGER. The charger and battery packs supplied with it
are specifically designed to work together. Do not attempt to charge the battery pack with any other charger than the
one supplied. A charger that is designed for one type of battery may cause serious problems, such as a risk of fire or
damage when used with a different battery.
6. USE ONLY THE SPECIFIC BATTERY PACK supplied with your tool. Use of any other batteries may cause serious
problems, such as a risk of fire, damage, or injury.
7. ENSURE THE TOOL SWITCH IS LOCKED IN THE OFF POSITION BEFORE INSERTING BATTERY PACK.
Inserting the battery pack into a switched-on power tool may cause it to start suddenly and cause injury.
8. UNDER SEVERE CONDITIONS, A LIQUID MAY BE EMITTED FROM THE BATTERY; BE SURE TO AVOID
CONTACT. Should contact accidentally occur, flush liberally with water. If liquid contacts eyes, seek immediate
medical help. This liquid has a strong acidic component and may cause irritation or burns.
9. BE CAREFUL NOT TO OVERHEAT or allow to exceed 40°C (104°F) neither the battery nor the charger. Do not
place them near heat sources or leave them in a closed vehicle in hot weather. Do not block the cooling ventilation
slots in the charger.
10. TO CHARGE A SECOND BATTERY PACK, unplug the charger from the power supply and let it cool for at least 15
minutes. After this period, you can charge the second battery pack.
11. NEVER ATTEMPT TO OPEN THE BATTERY PACK for any reason. If the plastic housing of the battery pack breaks
open or cracks, immediately discontinue its use and do not recharge it.
12. DO NOT INCINERATE BATTERY.
13. THE BATTERY PACK USES NICKEL-CADMIUM CELLS. Cadmium is considered to be a toxic material. Use an
environmentally safe disposal unit at a municipal waste disposal centre to dispose of a damaged or worn out battery.
WARNING! The warnings, cautions, and instructions detailed in this manual cannot
cover all possible conditions and situations that occur. It must be understood by the
operator that COMMON SENSE AND CAUTION ARE FACTORS that cannot be built
into this product, but MUST BE SUPPLIED BY THE OPERATOR.
