1.
Lower exhaust system at the rubber isolator (4). Spraying a lubricant or soapy water on the metal hanger rod and the rubber isolator helps with
removal. Do not let the exhaust drop, support the exhaust during installation.
2.
Feed spacers and carriage bolts into position using the pull wires provided to the forward holes in each frame rail. Leave pull wire attached.
Note: It is much easier if bolt and spacer are not engaged while inserting them into frame, refer to illustration.
3.
Raise the hitch into position one side at a time. Raise both hitch brackets over the exhaust while feeding one hitch bar under the fascia, raise the
bracket over the rubber isolator, and swing the opposite side bracket over the isolator while shifting the hitch to one side. Feed the remaining bar
under the fascia (it might be necessary to gently pull the fascia out for additional clearance). Push the hitch up against the bumper rail. Bend
heat shield if needed for installation.
4.
Feed the pull wires through the slots of the bracket. Shift the bracket into location as shown. Pull the fasteners though the bracket. Remove one
pull wire at a time (being careful not to push the fasteners into the frame rail) and attach the conical washer and hex nut as shown. Repeat with
remaining fastener. Hand tighten only at this time.
5.
Place the bolt plates on top of the bumper rails, access to bumper rail on the outside of the rails(as shown), use caution not to knock bolt plates
back down unto you.
6.
Install the hex bolts and conical washers into the bolt plate. Do not completely tighten.
7.
Center the hitch on the vehicle.
8.
Torque all fasteners to specifications shown below.
9.
Reinstall exhaust.
Tighten all 7/16-14 GR5 fasteners with torque wrench to 50 Lb.-Ft. (68 N*M) -Tighten all ½-13 GR5 fasteners with torque wrench to 50 Lb.-Ft. (68 N*M)
Note: check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened. If hitch is removed, plug all holes in trunk pan or other body panels to
prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Observe safety precautions when working
beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.
