Hailo HFO Electrically Assisted Opening System

Safety instructions

The Hailo HFO Electrically Assisted Opening System
meets generally recognised engineering standards and
the 2006/95/EC electrical equipment safety directive.
The device is to be connected to an AC power supply
only (for the voltage see the type plate on the under-
side of the device).
Ensure that the drawer system is used solely as
specified.
Failure to comply with these instructions for assembly
and use (and in particular with the safety instructions)
as well as any improper use or improper repairs may
present a serious risk to the user. No liability will be
accepted for any damage thus caused and the warranty
will be invalidated.
Likewise, we accept no liability for consequential losses
arising from this.
The mains lead must be laid in such a way that it is
protected from sharp edges and does not come into
contact with moving parts. Do not touch the lead or the
device with wet or damp hands.
If the lead on the device is damaged, it must be
replaced by the manufacturer, the manufacturer's
customer service department or similarly qualified
personnel to avoid any risk.
Never open or take the device apart yourself.
Important: Risk of death due to electric shock.
Do not allow the device to come into contact with water.
Any ingress of moisture and/or aggressive cleaning
agents may damage the device.
Repairs are to be undertaken by Hailo Customer
Service or authorised personnel only.
Always unplug the lead from the socket before repairs
are undertaken.
The device is to be rendered unusable prior to disposal
(e.g. by cutting off the lead or the plug).

Preparing for installation
1. Using a saw, cut out a recess in the base of the unit
where the opening system is to be fitted.
(You might also have to make a recess in the
plinth – see diagram [X] ).
2. Insert the opening system into the base of the unit.
3. Thread the plug and lead under the base of the unit and
plug into the socket.
4. Offer up the waste separation system/drawer front to
check that the opening system functions correctly with it
in position (See Fig. C – Function description below).
Fig. C
Function description
The opening system is triggered by a sensor in the
ejector system.
1. As soon as power is supplied to the device, the sensor
projects a point of light onto the floor.
This point of light will help you to identify the fitting
position for the sensor.
2. To open the unit front/drawer, place your foot directly
under the sensor.
Fig. D
Adjustment and fitting
1. There is a screw on the base of the opening system housing
which is used to adjust the force with which the drawer is
ejected – the five adjustment positions lock audibly into place.
The ejection force is pre-set at maximum.
Important: Always unplug the device from the mains
power supply before altering the ejection force.
= Increases ejection force
= Decreases ejection force
2. Screw the drawer system tightly into the base of the unit.
3. Fit the waste separation system/front of unit and the plinth.
Please note: The opening system is to be used solely for the
purpose for which it is intended and should not be used more
than 6 times per minute. If the device is used more often
than this, it may lead to overheating and therefore to a brief
loss of function.
