Save and close all other programs running on your laptop
before you start installing the software.
Start your laptop and log on to Windows XP as an
Administrator or as a User with administrator privileges.
After the operating system has loaded completely, insert
the Hama USB 2.0 PC card into your laptop. Windows In-
stallation Assistant starts and recognises the hardware
automatically and integrates the required drivers in your
system in the background. Please wait until a balloon tip
appears in your notification area that informs you that
the hardware has been successfully installed and that
you can now use it. The Hama USB 2.0 PC card cannot be
used until this message has appeared.
Important instructions for Windows XP x64 bit
You can check whether the PC card was properly instal-
led in Device Manager. To check, click Start -> Control
Panel -> Performance and maintenance -> System. In the
System Properties window, select -> Hardware -> Device
Manager. The following entries must appear in the USB
Controllers section without a yellow exclamation mark.

• Nec PCI to USB Open Host Controller
• Nec PCI to USB Open Host Controller
• Standard enhanced PCI to USB Universal Host
Controller
• USB root hub
• USB root hub
