Read the complete user manual before carrying out the installation and activating the system.
1. DESCRIPTION
The presence detector Dual Tech 360° (slave) integrates advanced Passive Infrared Technology (PIR) and
Ultrasonic (US) Technology in one single device. Combining these technologies prevents false triggering, even
in difficult applications. The presence detector is suitable for indoor use, e.g. in open plan offices, public toilets,
conference rooms, underground car parks, classrooms and libraries.
2. INSTALLATION
2.1. Connection
Danger: Disconnect all power before installing the presence detector. Do not connect the device to the mains
voltage until installation has been completed.
Refer to the wiring diagram (fig. 1).
2.2. Mounting
Tip: Do not install the presence detector in the vicinity of heat sources such as stoves or electric heaters,
air currents (ventilation systems) or moving objects. Also avoid reflective surfaces such as large windows
or glass partition walls (fig. 2). This can activate the device unnecessarily because the device reacts to
movement and heat in its environment.
Tip: Ideally, the presence detector should be mounted onto the ceiling. If the device is mounted below ceiling
level, the ultrasonic detection range will be reduced.
Tip: The recommended mounting height is 2 to 3 m. The presence detector performs optimally when
mounted at a height of 2.5 m.
The presence detector is suitable for:
• flush mounting with a standard flush-mounting box, or
• surface mounting using the surface-mounting base. When using the surface-mounting base, you can
use any of the seven pairs of fixing holes with various distances from 41 to 85 mm.
3. SETTINGS
The presence detector can be used with standard factory settings (see section 3.1.) or you can modify
the settings (see section 3.2.) using the potentiometers on the device.
3.1. Factory settings
At delivery the parameters of the presence detector Dual Tech 360° (slave) are set as follows:
Parameter
detection area (sensitivity of the ultrasonic sensor) 80%, ± 8 x 13 m
detection method
air flow sensitivity
The switch-off delay and light sensitivity settings of the presence detector Dual Tech 360° (master)
(350-20065) are used.
3.2. Modifying settings using the potentiometers
Underneath the housing of the presence detector, you will find three potentiometers that can be used to
modify the parameters as you prefer (fig. 3).

3.3. Detection method
The presence detector includes two LEDs:
• red LED: on when the PIR sensor detects motion.
• green LED: on when the ultrasonic sensor detects motion.
Detection method
Application
PIR/US
Detection of minor movements
in rooms with small obstacles
(furniture, partition walls) or
rooms that are divided into
several smaller areas, such as
only US
public toilets or offices where
partition walls are used.
only PIR
Detection in rooms with no
obstacles, rooms with plenty of
air flow, or when the detection
range is very specific, such
as in small office spaces with
air-conditioning units or small
conference rooms.
PIR+US
Detection of minor movements
in classrooms, open plan offices,
etc. This method also prevents
false triggering.
3.4. Detection range
The detection range of an ultrasonic sensor is oval in shape and covers 8 x 10 m for minor movements (e.g.
hands waving) and 10 x 16 m for major movements (e.g. walking). The detection angle is 360° for both PIR
and ultrasonic sensors. (fig. 4)
The direction of the ultrasonic sensor should aim to the main detection area to achieve the best detection
coverage.
The detection area can be increased by using a slave in combination with a presence detector Dual Tech
360° (master) (350-20065). A maximum of ten slaves can be connected to one master. The lighting is
operated in accordance with the settings. Both the master and the slave have the same detection range.
When covering a large area using several presence detectors, it is recommended to take into account an
overlap of approximately 20% in the ultrasonic detection range (fig. 5).
If you would like to exclude motion detection in a portion of the detection area or if the detection area is too
large, cover the sensor lens using the cover cap supplied. This allows the maximum range to be reduced
from 8 m to 6 m or 3 m. The 360° detection angle can be reduced in steps of 30° (fig. 6).
4. OPERATION AND USE
4.1. Activating the system
After connecting to the mains voltage, the presence detector requires approximately 30 seconds warm-
up time (stabilisation). During the warm-up time, the lighting is switched on. After the warm-up time, the
device will operate according to the factory settings.
4.2. General operation
The integrated light sensor continuously measures the daylight level in the detection area (360°) and
compares this level to the preset lux value. Thanks to the light sensor, the light switches on automatically
only if the detector detects motion within the detection range and if the daylight level falls below the preset
lux value:
• The lighting remains switched on as long as motion is detected.
• After the last motion is detected, the lighting remains switched on for the duration of the
preset switch-off delay (1 to 30 minutes). As soon as the switch-off delay has elapsed, the
lighting switches off.
• The lighting switches off automatically as soon the preset daylight level has been reached.
5. MAINTENANCE
Dirt may prevent the presence detector from functioning properly. Therefore, always keep the lens clean and
dry. Use a damp cloth and water with some detergent to clean the lens. Never exert pressure to wipe the lens
clean. If the lens or other parts of the presence detector are defective, please contact an authorised installer.
Function
- The lighting is switched on
whenever the PIR sensor or
ultrasonic sensor detects
motion.
- The lighting is switched on
whenever the ultrasonic sensor
detects motion.
- The lighting is switched on
whenever the PIR sensor
detects motion.
- The lighting is switched on
when both the PIR sensor and
the ultrasonic sensor detect
motion.
- If only one of both sensors
detects motion, the lighting will
remain on.
