2. SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

The Flexa system is Airzone's zoning system, with wireless communications. This system
allows the zoning into as many as 6 zones with any type of Airzone's motorised diffuser. The
installation is half-wired, with the motorised diffusers and (in case there is one) the BlueFace
or EnerFace powered by the System Control Unit and wireless communication between the
thermostats and the System Control Unit (Fig. 1).

3. SYSTEM COMPONENTS

The Flexa system can be composed of the following elements:
• Flexa System Control Unit (compulsory).
• BlueFace/EnerFace Thermostat or Flexa Master Thermostat (one of the two).
• Flexa Zone Thermostat (one per zone, except the master zone).
• Gateway for Communications with the Air Conditioning Unit (advisable).
• Airzone motorised diffusion (one per controlled zone).
• Mechanical elements: deflector, safety damper, bypass (optional).

3.1. Flexa System Control Unit

In a Flexa system, the Control Unit is responsible for:
• Controlling communications with the other components, and synchronising them.
• Opening and closing the motorised components (grilles and/or dampers).
• Controlling the air conditioning/heating equipment.
For more information about Flexa System Control Unit, see Fig. 2.

3.2. User's Interfaces

The BlueFace and EnerFace controllers have the master thermostat function in addition to
other functions, such as energy efficiency controllers. They are wired to the Flexa System
Control Unit and they can be surface-mounted or recessed.
Each Flexa Tacto thermostat controls the air conditioning and heating in a single zone,
enabling the temperature to be adjusted.
For more information on its use, see the Flexa User Manual.

3.3. HVAC Communication Gateway and Measuring Kit

The Gateway for Communications with the Air Conditioning Unit and the Measuring Kit are
two optional elements in the Flexa system. Notwithstanding, integration with the Air
Conditioning units that can be integrated with the gateway provides installations with a higher
efficiency level. The efficiency levels are greater still if the Measuring Kit is added in
conjunction with the BlueFace to become an EnerFace (see Fig. 1).
The Gateway for Communications with the Air Conditioning Unit offers three main
advantages:
