Removing and Installing Modular Devices

There are two ways to remove and install modular devices in the Modular Bay:
• Cold-swapping: swapping devices while your LIFEBOOK Tablet PC is powered off.
• Hot-swapping: swapping devices while your system is active using the Safely Remove Hardware icon from your
system tray.
Cold-swapping
To cold-swap modular devices in your Modular Bay follow
these easy steps:
Close any open files.
1
Shut down your LIFEBOOK Tablet PC.
2
Press the Modular Bay release latch in the direction
3
shown in Figure 33.
While holding the latch, slide your device out until it is
4
clear of the bay. This will require light force.
Slide the device you are installing into your Tablet PC
5
until it clicks into place.
It is now safe to turn your Tablet PC back on.
6
You can now access and use the device.
7
Your Tablet PC will automatically detect the device and
activate it within your system. The drive letters associated
with the device will be created and listed under My Computer
and Windows Explorer.
Hot-swapping
Hot-swapping is provided through the Safely Remove Hardware utility. The icon for the utility appears in the system
tray. Click on the icon and follow the on-screen instructions.
