INSTALLATION AND OPERATION
1) Check that the power supply is the same rating inscribed on the nameplate of
the pump.
2) All electrical work must be carried out under the supervision of an authorized
electrician and should meet all local codes and regulations.
• The submersible pump power cable(s) should not be spliced or extended.
• This pump is equipped with a special kind of cable, which in case of damage
must be replaced by the same cable.
NEVER CONNECT THE GROUND WIRE TO PIPING. BE SURE TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE
GROUNDING.
3) Check the direction of rotation as follows:
• Suspend the pump by its handle and turn on the power switch, the pump should jerk
counterclockwise, as viewed from above, at the instant of starting.
• Never lift the pump by its power cable, as this may cause water to leak into the motor.
4) Run the cables so that they do not have any sharp bends and are not pinched.
5) Avoid making excessive bends in delivery hoses or piping, as this may cause reduced flow.
6) Never install the pump directly on a weak soil layer or muddy ground, or the pump may sink and
soil or mud may enter the pump and/or piping reducing flow.
7) If the pump has been operating in dirty water, allow it to run for short period in clean water or flush
clean water through the discharge port. If clay, cement or other types of dirt are left in the pump, they
may clog the impeller and seal area.
8) The BTR400S/750S pump is supplied with automatically resetting overload protection, therefore no
external protection is required. The built-in motor protector automatically stops the motor in case of
overload, locked impeller and or single phasing (3).
BECAUSE THE PUMP IS EQUIPPED WITH AN AUTOMATIC RESETTING OVERLOAD, IT MUST
ALWAYS BE DISCONNECTED FROM ITS POWER SUPPLY BEFORE HANDLING.
9) If a person is in the water where the pump is submerged, never start the pump.
10) An acceptable motor-control switch shall be provided at the time of installation.
Warning sign. Indicates a potential hazard.
Danger sign. Hands getting sheared, keep clear of moving parts.
