Ceiling Mounting
Diagram 2 – Ceiling Mounting
:
CAUTION
Ensure mains power is OFF before commencing installation.
The supplied power cable must not contact the top surface of the heater during operation.
Heater must not be located immediately below a power outlet.
Do not install the Vulcan onto wooden joists, beams or rafters.
Do not install the Vulcan into a ceiling recess, nor adjacent to a heater that has been ceiling-recessed.
The identification mark and model reference should be visible after installation.
The Vulcan must not be attached so as to face or be close to any combustible material (eg, wood or
PVC).
Any fixed wiring insulation coming into contact with parts with a temperature rise of greater than 50°C
must be protected, for example, by sleeving having an appropriate temperature rating.
USER MAINTENANCE:
Lamps in the Herschel Vulcan will need to be replaced from time to time. These are available from Herschel.
The units MUST be powered-off and cool before any lamp replacement.
To replace the lamps, remove the collar and 4 machine screws from the front of the unit. The lamps are held
in by springs at each end. To remove an old lamp hold one end of the bulb and push towards the opposite
end. This frees the end of the lamp you are holding and allows you to withdraw the bulb.
Push the new lamp into position.
ENGLISH
When ceiling mounted, install
using a wire suspension kit.
Ensure the heater is 1m from
the ceiling to allow the Vulcan
to draw sufficient cooling air
in from above the unit.
The ceiling suspension system
must be able to hold 4 x the
weight of the heater:
4 x 7kg = 28kg for the 5kW
unit and
4 x 13kg = 52kg for the 9 &
12kW units.
Do not ceiling mount the unit
closer than 1m from the
nearest wall.
