Charging the battery
For optimum use of your new air pump, you should ensure that the battery is always charged. Take the battery out of the air
pump and connect the charger to the battery. Connect the charger to a power source (United States & Canada: 120V / Europe:
230V) and switch on. A small indicator lights up red as long as the battery is connected to the charger – it will not switch off
or otherwise indicate that the battery is fully charged. For recommended charging times – see below.
The battery is a rechargeable 9.6V battery.
The charging time for the first charge using the accompanying AC charger is 15 hours.
The charging time must not exceed 24 hours.
Subsequent charges take 5-10 hours – depending on discharge.
In order to preserve the battery's capacity, it should be almost fully discharged once in a while.
With correct use, the battery can be recharged at least 500 times.
The AC charger charges with 200 mA.
A new battery first gives 100% performance when it has been discharged and charged 4-5 times.
When the operating period per charge is significantly reduced, this is a sign that the battery is worn and should be replaced.
1. The battery and charger are designed for each other. Only an AirMan charger must be used for charging.
2. Regularly check the cord of the charger. Never carry the charger by the cord and never pull the plug out of the outlet by
jerking the cord. Make sure that the cord is not exposed to hot objects, oil or sharp edges.
3. Pull the charger plug out of the plug socket when the charger is not in use.
4. Never charge the battery in humid or wet locations. Never charge the battery outdoors. Do not open the battery. Protect it
against impact. The battery should be stored in a dry, frost-free place.
5. Protect the battery against heat and fire: danger of explosion! Do not place the battery on a heater and do not expose it to
solar radiation for a long period. It is damaged at temperatures above 122℉/ 50℃ Allow hot batteries to cool off completely
before charging.
6. When the battery is not sitting in the air pump, its plug surfaces should be covered in order to avoid short-circuiting caused
by metallic arcing.
Batteries and environment – applicable only in the United States and Canada
This battery can be recharged at least 500 times, but when you have to replace the battery, we ask you to consider the
environment. The EPA certified RBRC®Battery Recycling Seal on the nickel-cadmium (NiCd) battery indicates that ActiveTools
is voluntarily participating in an industry program to collect and recycle these batteries at the end of their useful life, when taken
out of service in the United States or Canada. The RBRC® program provides a convenient alternative to placing used NiCd
batteries into the trash or the municipal waste stream, which may be illegal in your area. Please call 1-800-822-8837 for
information on NiCd battery recycling and disposal bans/restrictions in your area. ActiveTools' involvement in this program is
part of our commitment to preserving our environment and conserving our natural resources.
