Contactor Safety Combination
Operating Instructions
Read and understand these instructions before installing,
operating, or maintaining the equipment.
DANGER
!
Hazardous voltage.
Will cause death or serious injury.
Turn off and lock out all power supplying this device before
working on this device.
CAUTION
Reliable functioning of the equipment is only ensured with
certified components.
The devices must be installed in switchgear cabinets with an adequate
degree of protection which takes the ambient conditions into account.
Application
The contactor safety combinations can be used in EMERGENCY-OFF circuits and for mo-
nitoring protective devices (e.g. protective screens). The user must carry out an evaluation
of the overall systems.
Functions and connections
In the case of equipment whose supply volt. is the same as the control voltage, the instruc-
tions given in DIN EN / IEC 60204-1, Point 9.1.1, must be followed!
The internal control circuit of the contactor safety combination is designed according to
DIN EN / IEC 60204-1, para. 9.4.2.2, so that in the case of a fault in one of the contactor
relays the function of the safety circuit is maintained. The supply voltage must meet the re-
quirements of the DIN EN / IEC 60204-1 (the terminals "A2" must be connected to that side
of the control current circuit which is linked to the protective conductor system). The contacts
of the contactor relays are checked for proper opening and closing in every ON and OFF
cycle of the machine to be switched. This is, for instance, done by
- connecting and disconnecting the control volt. with the main switch,
- activating and deactivating the EMERGENCY-OFF unit
- opening and closing of the protective screen.

The German statutory industrial accident insurance institution (BG) has tested the
external protective circuits (Fig. IVb, IVc, IVd, IVe), which which make possible the
proper functioning of the contactor safety combination. The German statutory industrial ac-
cident insurance institution confirmed that Performance Level e according to
DIN EN ISO 13849-1 and/or SIL 3 according to DIN EN / IEC 62061 can be realized using
the 3TK2805 contactor safety combination (with correct external circuit). These connection
examples also apply to 3TK2806 applications.
For circuit diagrams and connection examples 3TK2806, see Fig. V:

c

detection and automatic starting).
According to DIN EN / IEC 60204-1, automatic starting is allowed wherever no hazard can
arise as a result.
Note: Single-channel control of the contactor safety combination is possible by connecting
X6 directly with "A2" and by connecting the EMERGENCY OFF between X1 and X3; X5.
A link must be inserted between X3; X5.
The external control circuit connections are shown for example only; the actual connections
must be defined by the user on the basis of a risk assessment.
Further applications available upon request.
Installation
For dimension drawings see Fig. I (dimensions in mm).
Minimum clearances from earthed parts on the sides: 3 mm (see Fig. IIa).
Connection see Fig. IIb.
Cover the contactor safety combination during installation if foreign particles, such
as swarf, can fall onto it. Install contactor safety combination in a housing if it is ex-
posed to dirt, dust or aggressive atmospheres.
Cleaning: Remove dust with a vacuum cleaner.
Permissible operating position: any.

Order No.: 3ZX1012-0TK28-5AA1
Operation
"LINE" indicates that voltage is applied to the unit.
"CHANNEL 1" and "CHANNEL 2" light up when the ON button is pressed and the contacts
of the EMERGENCY OFF pushbutton or door safety switch are closed.
