Now, the loose ends can be connected to other
components of a personal fall protection system to
EN 363 by means of a suitable connector (to EN
362).
2. Use according to EN 354:
This lanyard is used to make a connection between
various components of a personal fall protection
system to EN 363 and can be used in the following
manner:
A. In a work positioning system (to EN 363):
The lanyard allows the user, by leaning into or
being suspended in the system, to assume a
work position in which a free fall is prevented.
B. In a restraint system (to EN 363):
The lanyard prevents users from reaching a
location where they could fall from a height.
C. In a fall arrest system (to EN 363):
The lanyard arrests the user in the event of a fall
from a height.
In this case, however, an additional energy
absorber must be used, and the lanyard with the
energy absorber must be fastened to a fall arrest
eyelet of a fall arrest harness.
Maximum length incl. connectors and energy
absorber: 2.0 m
CAUTION!
Be sure to provide the required clearance
underneath the user.
Do not use two individual lanyards with one
energy absorber each side by side (i.e., arran-
ged in parallel).
The free end of a two-legged lanyard in combi-
nation with an energy absorber must not be
fastened to the harness (to a fall arrest or
suspension eyelet) as this might cause
bypassing of the energy absorber and thus
create a potential hazard.
Important! Do not load
the ring and the stitching
across an edge!
Connections between this lanyard and other com-
ponents of a personal fall protection system to EN
363 can be made as follows:
For applications A and B:
Fastening the lanyard to a work positioning belt:
1. Fasten the lanyard to a suspension eyelet
(Pic. 13) by means of a cow hitch (Pic. 12) or
2. a connector (to EN 362).
3. Then, use a connector (to EN 362) to connect
the loose end of the lanyard either to another
suspension eyelet on the harness as a work
positioning system (Pic. 14) or
4. to an anchor point (to EN 795; see below) as a
restraint system.

For application C:
Fastening of the lanyard to a fall arrest harness:
1. Use a connector (to EN 362) to mount an energy
absorber (to EN 355) on the lanyard.
2. Now, use a connector (to EN 362) to connect
the lanyard with the energy absorber to a fall
arrest eyelet of the full body harness, and fasten
the other, free end of the lanyard to the anchor
point (to EN 795).
