STARTING UP
WARNING : THE UNIT MUST NOT BE STARTED UP .BEFORE BEING LEFT TO STAND, WITHOUT
HANDLING, FOR AT LEAST 3 HOURS
 CIRCUIT FILLING
A/ CHILLER WITHOUT PUMP (TYPE D)
Usually, the circuit is already fitted with a pump when the chiller is installed. Check that pressure flow rate of the pump
is in accordance with the chiller data on the chiller's plate. The chiller must not be operated if the pump is not running.
B/ CHILLER WITH PUMP (STANDARD OR TYPE DP)
After filling the circuit, check the direction of rotation of the pump, shown by arrow on motor 's cover. For a three-
phase system, if necessary reverse the two power phases of the pump to reverse rotation.
PROCEDURE
1/ Open all isolating valves, close all drainage points and open the venting systems.
2/ With the cooler switched off, fill the process tank to the maximum level.
3/ Start up the chiller in order to actuate the pump.
WARNING: If the pump does not start up, switch off its electrical power supply if necessary. Unblock it by turning the
rear shaft of the motor with a screwdriver. Repeat the procedure from 2.
4/ After starting up the pump, wait about one minute while the pump is primed and air is vented from the circuit,
then switch its power supply.
5/ Check if there is no leakage on the connections.
6/ Check the level in the process tank and repeat operation 1 if necessary.
7/ Continue to fill and purge the facility until the pump turns without noise and no more air is vented.
8/ Tighten the venting systems.
DO NOT OPERATE THE PUMP WITHOUT LIQUID
 HYDRAULIC SETTINGS
The chiller must not operate out of minimum and maximum pressure and flow rate values indicated on the information
plate.
The user must therefore set:
- the discharge's pressure of the chiller (values read by installing a pressure gauge)
or
- the flow rate (can be read if flow meter is fitted).
The flow rate/pressure ratio can be checked on pump's documentation .
If a by-pass is installed between the chiller inlet and outlet, gradually close it until the pressure gauge displays the
required discharge pressure. If there is no by-pass, a setting valve can be installed.
If you cannot obtain a pressure level complying with the cooler operating curve:
 TEMPERATURE SETTINGS
The pump operates continuously.
For equipment fitted with a display panel, the regulator shows temperature's fluid close to the probe:
- in the tank for systems fitted with a tank,
- at the inlet or outlet, as requested, for systems without a tank.
Refers to hydraulic diagram to check probe's location.
Set the thermostat(s) to the required temperature setpoints (see specific instructions enclosed). Allow the fluid
temperature to rise above the setpoint (+2°C as standard) so that the compressor starts up.
Operate the chiller under "no-load" conditions (without heat load by the process) up to the required temperature
to check that regulation system operates correctly.
Start up the process; the chiller is ready to operate.
