2. Putting the system into operation
2.1. Electrical connection
Have regard to the power supply! Before connecting with the given power
supply, please check whether the voltage indicated on the performance
card is the same as the voltage available from the mains. Connect power
supply (1) by connecting to socket. Connect plug (2) of the power supply
to the socket (3) of the control unit. Rotate plug (2) carefully, to enable the
plug pins to find their way into the socket. Tighten the union nut. Connect
the control unit with the camera/cable group. Carefully rotate the pins of
the plug-and-socket connector (4) so that the pins find their way into the
socket. Tighten the screws of the plug-and-socket connector in a counter-
opposed direction.
2.2. Controller unit
Take the controller unit out of the cable basket as required (to achieve
optimal positioning, allowing for direction of light). Then pull friction spring
(5) outwards, and pull the controller unit carefully out of the holder. Open
the lid of the controller unit.
2.3. Video output
BNC video output socket (6) for composite PAL video, to transmit the color
signal to the video recorder, video printer, color television etc., with a stan-
dard cable as used in the trade.
2.4. Guide units
When working with larger pipe diameters, e.g. in a pipe network, it can be
advantageous if two guide units (accessories) are mounted on the color
camera head, so that the color camera head (7) will not be moved direct-
ly on the floor of the pipe. The guide units (8) can be securely fastened on
the guide springs (9) at the front and the back with the screw (10).
3. Operating the system
Clean pipe or channel before inspection. Draw the color camera head
carefully out of the cable basket. Do not bend insertion cable, as there is a
risk that it may break!
Warning: the insertion cable is flexible, but it is subject to extreme mecha-
nical tension when it is drawn out of the cable basket or pulled in a narrow
arc. It is sprung, and may flip back. Always hold the insertion cable firmly
in one hand. To pull out the insertion cable in a controlled fashion, it helps
if you place one foot on the carrying handle of the cable basket.
Introduce color camera head, inserting it e.g. into the pipe that is to be
inspected. The brightness of the LEDs on the color camera head can be
adjusted to brighter or darker if required, using the buttons (11,12). If
necessary, the brightness of the TFT color display can also be made brigh-
ter or darker using the buttons (13, 14).
With button (16) one can switch from full picture into partical picture
(enlargement). Keep button (16) depressed for approx. 2 s. Buttons (17,
18, 19, 20) for scroll function.
Push color camera head with the insertion cable into the pipe or channel
that is to be inspected. If the camera head encounters a bend in the pipe,
there will be increased resistance to insertion. To get round the bend in the
Ø 40 – 150 mm
pipe, continue pushing the insertion cable with repeated jerky forwards and
backwards movements. When withdrawing the camera head, proceed in
the same way.
10 m, Ø 4.5 mm
To clean the camera and cable equipment, take off the controller unit.
30 m, Ø 5.5 mm
4. Upkeep
–10 to 50°C
4.1. Inspection
Before inspection unplug from the mains! Keep the equipment clean. In
230 V 1~, 50 – 60 Hz
particular, dirt should be care-fully removed from the guide spring. To clean
110 V 1~, 50 – 60 Hz
the camera and cable equipment, take off the controller unit. Do not use
12 V DC
solvents. Examine the protective cap (15) to make sure that it is not damaged,
12 V DC
and replace it if necessary (see 4.3).

4.2. Maintenance
15 W
The device is maintenance-free.
IP 55
4.3. Repairs
IP 54
Before carrying out repair work, unplug from the mains! If the protective
550 x 460 x 105 mm
cap (15) on the color camera head is damaged, it should be replaced in
2.8 kg
good time, so that the color camera will not be damaged by the penetra-
tion of water or dirt. For this the protective cap (15) should be unscrewed
and replaced by a new protective cap (accessories). Other required repair
< 70 dB(A)
work that may be necessary should only be carried out by an authorised
ROLLER contractual customer service workshop.
5. Malfunctions
5.1. Malfunction: Picture on TFT color display is too dark.
Reason:
· LED is too dark (press button 11).
· TFT color display is too dark (press button 13).

5.2. Malfunction: Picture on TFT color display is out of focus.
Reason:
· Protective cap (15) is dirty, scratched or damaged (see 4.3).
· Water has got into the color camera head (see 4.3).
5.3. Malfunction: Kink in the insertion cable (possibly no picture).
Reason:
· The fibre glass core of the insertion cable is broken.
