6.0 CALIBRATION
6.1 Calibration Frequency
The REICHERT UNISTAT Bilirubinometer requires calibration upon
installation and then at least at six-month intervals, unless quality con-
trol data indicate the need for earlier calibration. The REICHERT
UNISTAT Bilirubinometer must be recalibrated after all service proce-
dures, including bulb changes.
6.2 Calibration Material
The REICHERT UNISTAT Bilirubinometer is calibrated with a stable
assayed glass calibration cuvette (Reichert cat. no. 13103410) which is
included with the instrument (Fig. 4). No other calibration material is
to be used for calibrating the REICHERT UNISTAT Bilirubinometer.
Replacement calibration cuvettes (Reichert cat. no. 13103410) may be
ordered from your Reichert representative.
6.3 Calibration Procedure
1. Remove any smudges or dirt from the calibration cuvette using a
soft material such as gauze. If necessary, clean the glass surface of the
cuvette with a cotton swab dipped in methanol. Hold the cuvette by
the narrow portion to prevent recontamination.
2. To begin the calibration cycle, depress and hold the START button
until "ccc" appears on the LED display. Release the START button.
3. The display now will flash the value of the expected calibration
cuvette (the instrument is set with the value of its calibration cuvette at
the factory). The top of the calibration cuvette is labeled with its value,
in mg/dL and µmol/L units.
CAUTION: IF THE VALUE ON THE CALIBRATION CUVETTE
DIFFERS FROM THE VALUE BEING DISPLAYED BY THE REICHERT
UNISTAT BILIRUBINOMETER, DISCONTINUE THE CALIBRATION
PROCEDURE BY TURNING THE POWER OFF AND ON (TO CLEAR)
AND REFER TO SECTION 11.2.
4. Open the black door and insert the specified calibration cuvette into
the sample carrier until the widest portion of the cuvette is seated.
Close the black door.
5. Depress and release the START button. The instrument will begin
its calibration cycle. When the calibration cuvette returns to its
original position, the calibration procedure is complete.
E12 will appear if the calibration cuvette measurement is more

6.1 Kalibrierungsintervalle
Das REICHERT UNISTAT Bilirubinometer muß bei der
Erstinstallation und dann in regelmäßigen Abständen von
mindestens sechs Monaten kalibriert werden. Eine frühere
Nachkalibrierung ist notwendig, wenn die Qualitätskontrolldaten
dies erfordern. Das REICHERT UNISTAT Bilirubinometer muß auch
nach allen Wartungsmaßnahmen, einschließich Lampenwechsel,
nachkalibriert werden.
6.2 Kalibrierungsmaterial
Das REICHERT UNISTAT Bilirubinometer wird mit einer
mitgelieferten stabilen geprüften Glaskalibrierungsküvette
(Reichert Kat.-Nr. 13103410) kalibriert (Abb. 4). Kein anderes
Kalibrierungsmaterial sollte zur Kalibrierung von REICHERT
UNISTAT Bilirubinometer genommen werden.
Weitere Kalibrierungsküvetten (Reichert Kat.-Nr. 13103410)
können durch Ihren Reichert-Vertragshändler nachbestellt werden.
6.3 Kalibrierungsverfahren
1. Eventuelle Verschmierungen oder Verschmutzungen von der
Kalibrierungsküvette mit einem weichen Tuch wie Mull entfernen.
Bei Bedarf die Glasoberfläche der Küvette mit einem in Methanol
getauchten Wattestälochen reinigen. Die Küvette nur am schmalen
Ende halten, um erneute Verschmutzung zu vermeiden.
2. Um den Kalibrierungszyklus zu starten, den START-Schalter so
lange gedrückt halten, bis "ccc" im LED-Anzeigefeld erscheint.
Dann START-Schalter loslassen.
3. Die Anzeige blinkt jetzt den Meßwert der erwarteten
Kalibrierungsküvette (das Gerät ist werksmäßig mit dem Meßwert
der Kalibrierungsküvette vorprogrammiert). Auf der
Kalibrierungsküvette steht der jeweilige Meßwert in mg/dl und
µmol/1.
VORSICHT: SOLLTE DER MESSWERT AN DER KALIBRIERUNGS-
KÜVETTE MIT DEM AM UNISTAT BILIRUBINOMETER
ANGEZEIGTEN MESSWERT NICHT ÜBEREINSTIMMEN, DAS
KALIBRIERUNGSVERFAHREN DURCH AUS- UND EINSCHALTEN
DER STROMVERSORGUNG UNTERBRECHEN (UM ZU LÖSCHEN),
UND DIE HINWEISE IN ABSCHNITT 11.2 BEFOLGEN.
4. Die schwarze Klappe öffnen und die vorgesehene
Kalibrierungsküvette in den Probenträger einsetzen, bis das breite
Ende der Küvette richtig sitzt. Schwarze Klappe schließen.
5. START-Schalter drücken und loslassen. Das Gerät beginnt mit dem
Kalibrierungszyklus. Wenn die Kalibrierungsküvette wieder in der
Ausgangsposition angekommen ist, ist das Kalibrierungsverfahren
abgeschlossen.
