Use the correct external power source. Operate the product only from the type of power source
indicated on the electrical ratings label. If you are not sure of the type of power source required,
consult your service provider or local power company.
Use only power cords provided with your PDU or system.
Power cords used to connect a component to your PDU must be rated for the voltage and current
marked on the component's electrical rating label. The voltage and current rating of the power cord
should be greater than the rating marked on the component.
To help prevent electric shock, plug the PDU inlet power cords into properly grounded electrical
outlets. These power cords are equipped with three-prong plugs to help ensure proper grounding.
Do not use adapter plugs or remove the grounding prong from a power cords. Do not use an extension
cable.
Ensure that each extension cable and power strip total ampere rating for all products plugged into
the extension cable or power strip comply with all local and national electrical codes and regulations.
Position system cables and power cords carefully; route system cables and the power cord and plug so
that they cannot be stepped on or tripped over. Be sure that nothing rests on your system components'
cables or power cord.
Do not modify PDUs or power cords. Consult a licensed electrician or your power company for site
modifications. Always follow the local and national electrical codes and regulations for your country
or region.
PDUs that attach directly to a main AC source by terminal block connections must be installed by

Precautions for Rack-Mountable Products

Observe the following precautions for rack stability and safety. See the rack installation documentation
accompanying the rack for specific warning and/or caution statements and procedures.
Before working on a rack, ensure that your rack has been installed safely according
to the instructions in your rack installation documentation.
Do not step on or stand on any system or component when servicing other systems or components
in a rack.
